autozone upper balljoints?

anyone have expierence with these? i know the 1g CL have press in upper balljoints and dont wana shell out the dough for the whole upper arm including the balljoint. the only ones i could find were from autozone. my mechanic said they were junk and would be bad in a year or two, but why would they put a lifetime warranty on them if they were junk? any one with some expierence in this area please chime in.

Could i just buy the upper balljoints for a 97 Accord from oemacuraparts.com and have them pressed in? are they the same?

I bought the complete upper control arms with the ball joint already attached of ebay and it works just fine. It has only been about 6 months so I can't say how long they will last, but they weren't very expensive.

Just looked and saw a set of two of them for $47.99. Much easier to replace the whole thing instead of pressing in new the ball joint into the old arms.

they usually lifetime warrany those type of things b/c the hardest and usually most expensive part of the process with a part like that would be the installation. The warranty only covers the part. most people don't bother warranty exchanging them due to that exact reason.

I would get an alignment after you mess with any suspension items just to be sure everything is still in line because it doesn't take much to knock it out of line. If theer was play in the arms then it was lined up with that play and when they are changed that play is no longer there

man, honestly, oem is the way to go. I went through at least 3 control arms from autozone. only bought it because i worked there. I work at acura now, and am currently looking at the price of $202, for one control arm. My opinion> WELL WORTH IT. Lower ball joints, ugh lets not even go there..Advanced auto parts carry MOOG, if anything..go there.
