Alarm issue 1999 cl 2.3
hello..
recently i changed the battery in my remote..i did what the manual said (click either lock or unlock button 6 times) and i also did the trunk and lock button at same time to get the beeping back...
seemed like its working..BUT the odd thing is every other day the sound stops and i have to do the trunk and lock button thing again..(note that the doors are locking and unlocking when this happens just the sound stops)
is that a sign that something is wrong?i wouldnt think something electronical can get "dumb" with age..
any ideas??
thanx

Clean the contacts in the remote, mine does this all the time too. It also could be cuz it's getting triggered in your pocket.

so yours beep sound stops beeping for no reason too?(i dont see how it being triggered in pocket would make the sound stop and in actuality it even stops beeping when sitting on the kitchen counter after a day or 2)
it comes right back after holding the trunk and lock button but puzzled why it "forgets"..
but i guess i can live with it as long as its actually working
cheers

Believe it or not, the beep is controlled by the remote. Like I said, the older these remotes get, the more finicky they get. I would try cleaning the metal contacts with some rubbing alchohol, also try replacing the battery
