Air Conditioning pump

So the pulley on my air conditioning pump is making my car scream. I was wondering if it is possible to just get the pulley(and if so, where)..or should i just dish out $400 for the whole pump?

400..that i dont have

Thanks for your help.

Also, its a 98 Acura CL 3.0

Well, i've decided just to bypass the AC pump with a shorter belt. I see that im getting some views on the topic..and am wondering if anyone knows what the size of the belt would be if i bypass the AC.

Thanks

First, remove AC drive belt. From your description, you plan to bypass the compressor so this is already done.

If inner part of clutch can be rotated easily by hand w/ just slight resistance, the compressor is OK. If it won't rotate or rotates w/ a grinding feel, your compressor is siezing and causing the belts to squeal. It is possible that the clutch bearing has siezed, but less likely.

If outer pulley of clutch assy is also frozen, the clutch bearing has siezed. Even w/ a frozen compressor, the outer pulley should turn freely w/ belt removed.

good luck
