98 3.0 CL Transmission Compatability
Let me start by saying I am somewhat new to CLs and TLs. My brother has a 2003 CL-S 6MT and posts on this site so I am somewhat familiar with that. Likewise ive been building engines and doing motor/trans swaps for years in all sorts of imports.
Heres the deal, it seems just like with the 2001-2003 CLs and TLs the auto trans was the weak point in the earlier models as well based on what ive read. A family member has a perfect condition 98 CL 3.0 V6 that he drives daily. Last week the trans started slipping and went out, go figure. The shop wants around $3000 to do the job which would be a walk in the park for me to do and save him money. All my JDM distributors are out of stock on this transmission due to its desirability. I have located a legit 44K unit for sale out of a 1999 CL that was totaled. Now, are there compatability issues between 1998 and 1999 that I should be aware of? While 44k seems low it also seems that people have had their transmissons go out quite prematurely so I am not completely sure if I should go this route or not. Just wanted to see if anyone had anything to add before I make a purchase to fix this car.
Thanks for your time

shouldn't be a difference between 98 and 99, you should be fine

Update, picked up the car myself for $300... runs and drive as is but once hot the trans starts to slip bad. Engine is perfect, bodies straight and rust free, interior just needs to be cleaned. I hope to have this car together for cheap.
