1 fan didnt shut off when car was off
hello again all..
well just got home from work...i noticed that the passengar side front fan didnt shut off after i turned the car off...i went and changed my clothes and went to check again and it was off...so i started the car again and fans both started and shut it off again and they both shut down..
ummm what does that mean??
also while i was checking i started wondering...are those 2 fans supossed to be on only when the a/c or regular air is on and not on at all when the air is off in general??? or are they suppossed to be on 24/7 so the car doesnt overheat??
thanx for ur time all

K so the fans are triggered by the thermostat, when the fans are on they are pulling air through the rad to cool down your coolant system, if your fan was still running when you turned your car off this means your car was running to hot, check your coolant levels, your may have a leak or a plugged line. If it happens again check your temperature gauge on your instrument panel, it should be at 1/4 if it's at half or higher that's your problem.
well dk97cl is right and wrong. just because the fan stays on after the car is off doesnt mean it was running "too hot" it may have just been up to temp and the fans will stay on sometimes to help cool it down. so im not saying dont check your coolant levels or watch your temp gauge or anything. but theres no need to panic right away. it may have just been cooling itself down. which it will do whether its over heating, or just hot. and the running temp of an engine is quite hot.
ok...it seems that the fan being on after car was off was justified..next morning i checked my radiator fluids and it was low...so went and bought sum fluid and put it in..it took about half the container...than i waited a few min and looked under car..i saw what looked like water coming out from the frontend sumplace..dripping but i wouldnt call it a "slow" drip..definantly big drip if that makes sense (not pouring out but a nice drip that leaves a puddle quick)..i checked again a few minutes later and started seeing a lil bit of "rainbow"-ness in the water...im guessing i got a leak sumplace..
does that make sense??
im already plotting on dropping car of at mechanics tomoro or sat to get fixed so it will get taken care of either way..but having a clue whats wrong is always helpfull
ill also have him check the fans and relay and temp thingy as well...
thanx 4 your time mates
