Ecu Tuning?

Hey guys quick question been searching all over the internet i cant seem to find any information on this.

How can we tune our ECU??? All i have found are random hardware/software combos that don't seem to do much.

Is there any software that you can directly hook up to your laptop and connect to the odb2 through usb to tune it.

Also, my mechanic has a code reader with some sort of custom software he told me that tunes the car, anyone know the type of software.

I'm just looking to change my Air Fuel ratio and maybe timings. Any help would be appreciated, this topic is like a mystery with no useful information at all besides buying random shit that might work.

Thanks

Maybe, none exist.

Not any real true way anyway.
These guys are running engine management, but I'll let them chime in.

From what I understand, the stock ECU used in our cars is constantly "learning" and adjusting the air/fuel mixture to optimize power, fuel economy and minimize emissions.

If you were able to "tinker" with the stock settings, I would think that the stock ECU would eventually drift back towards the factory settings.

If you want to create your own custom mapping then you would probably need a stand alone programable ECU with its own software.

yea im starting to wonder. Before i replaced my faulty 02 sensors with his supposed ecu tune i was avg. around 35-36mpg. Then after he replaced the 02 sensor and again did the same ecu tune, i am getting far less like 32mpg, so im thinking he can't tune shit or else if it worked i should of gotten the same gas mileage with the tune.

Or maybe the o2 sensor fights it somewhat idk. Doesn't seem like much hope in this en-devour.

Hey buddy your best bet if you wanna make power and be able to fine tune every aspect of your engine pick up an aem ems v2 standalone its expensive yes but the quality of the product is unreal. I have one running my h23 and i plan on keeping it to tune my k24 once its in. One thing i recommend is an air fuel and taking it to a proper tuner because remember you get what you pay for

i would tell you to look in to puting a socketed p28 in and a neptune demon i have a f20b swap running on this setup up it alows you to tune every aspect on the enigne -timing, fuel, vtec, everything and it is a fraction of the cost of aem plus much easier to tune plus there is a great support forum that was started by the creators and they will personally post responses to your questions

This is the 1st and best option, gives you alot of flexibility.

Also a good option, and more affordable. I ran my H23a CL on this setup with an OBD2 to OBD1 harness, worked great.

Depending on what model accord, but I'd say yes, it could be used to tune. Hondata S300 can also be programmed onto an ECU like a P28 to run the 1st gen, although I've only seen it used on H motor swapped CL's.
