Ok is it necessary to bake the painted piece after you paint it? I am going to use reg paint no high temp and let it dry over night, thinking of semi gloss.

Okey another ? i may have seen somewhere has anyone taken off the low beam light restriction thing that goes over the bulb? Guess it would make it brighter and act like a high beam. Might make my hids way brighter. Good idea or bad????

For those of you that got condensation in the headlamps; how long did it take to show up?

I did mine yesterday with a "quick and dirty" approach. Then it rained all night and most of today and there's no moisture showing up. I'm hoping they are sealed even though I didn't clamp them after using the silicone.

BTW, they look awesome. It really turned the conservative look of the front end and made it more aggressive.

You did your blackhousing and retrofit separately, right?

Mine have seen a couple washes and almost a whole week of driving in the rain. Nothing so far. I just tried sanding my headlights the other day and they turned out terrible. Started with 1000 grit, then 2000 grit, then polishing compound, then Plast-X and even through on a coat of glaze wax since I tried everything else. Do I need to buff these things or what?

Nope, no blackhouse, the leak in the seal is from the retrofitting, I need to reseal it when I take my bumper off again

I would buff them for sure, just polished, buffed and waxed my 4runner's headlights and they look brand new

how much of the original sealant stuff do you have to get off before you put on new sealant? my light has a ton of the stuff on it and it's taking forever to get off, but i don't want to have the new stuff not hold because the old stuff is on there

I had the housing all painted n was close to finishing up my project so I set them near the fireplace, a few feet from it and my dad accidently stepped on one. There goes my like 6 hours of labor, i was so pissed when it happened lol. Any idea if I can buy just the housing we paint or if I need to just get a new headlight? Help me out!

I think I have an extra housing, let me check because otherwise you'd have to buy the whole headlight

That'd be sick, just let me know what you'd want for it. I don't think I can send PM's yet, but let me know. Thanks a lot.

In regards...

I may have over read this part, but you said to replace the sealant, correct? I have heard that if you just bake the lights again the sealant becomes usable once more and you can just stick them together again.
Check it.

You DON'T want your lights to fog and have to end up taking off the bumper and doing it all over again. Just use fresh sealant, it's like $5.
