X-over for Front Speakers. Wiring
Hey guys. I am in the process of installing my component speakers up front. Some CDT's.
I am almost done building custom spacers for the 6.5 in the front doors, because those CDT's are HUGE compared to the stock speakers, and they are larger in diameter half an inch or so.
Anyways, The thing is that, i allready changed the tweaters for the CDT Silk dome tweaters. And i didn't put the crossover to divide the lows and high for the tweeter and the midrange.
My question is, Were can i find the wires that goes to the tweeter and to the front door speaker? on each side of the car? Are they splitting somewere or they comes separated from the head unit?

They split off the door speaker wire, I think in the door, i haven't seen them yet, but I know they're spliced off the door speaker wires, there is no x-over, that's why your hu only has 4 channels. What did you use for the spacers, MDF? That's what I used for my 6x9's, I didn't need them for the fronts, just dremeled out the back of the speaker mount in the door.

How can i know if it had Bose or not?
Thats what i had in the doors, is that a Bose speaker?
But anyways. I want to install my CDT CrossOver, but i need to find the spot were the speaker wire is being seperated in two.

why does it matter where the seperation happens?
i think it seperates out of the door though.
just for the record you'll probally blow your tweet because you'll be basically using it as a full range speaker. the stock tweet at least has a resistor so it wont play the lower frequencies.
its really not that hard to add the x-over. if you dont use it you're wasting your money on the components. and to add insult to injury it wont sound anything like what it did in the store and you probally wont be happy with the speakers.

I would guess it's before the door too, under the dash

I allready changed the tweeter, took me less than an hour do to all the wiring, modifing the cap, and getting it secure there, it wasn't a big deal. That cap under the windshield pries right off.
And no, i wont blow the tweeter.
That tweeter is meant to be played at 150 watts rms. lol, its a huge 1 inch silk dome tweeter. I am not worried about it blowing. :P
And for the record. I WANT to put that cross over, just didn't do it yet. I didn't know were to install it.
And yes, i used MDF for spacers. The speaker is actually larger in diameter, so dremeling wouldn't have done it:P

That's not the hard part, getting wires to them is the hard part

wattage has nothing to do with it. its the frequency range thats played through it. go for it though.
