the higher priced intakes are better material and often smoother bends, the V2 has different diameter tubing which is supposed to produce more power. the filter is an important aspect of an intake though.
I would be leary of cheap intakes, having it fall off while driving is not a fun experiance.

i had a cheapo filter that the top of the intake was a cone as well but went into the intake. The metal cap that was on there came unglued and got sucked into the intake. LUCKILY it got stuck on the butterfly on the TB. So needless to say i dont buy those filters anymore.

I have a slightly used Cosmo racing SRI if you want one for cheap, with a brand new filter. I just replaced it with my CAI. PM me if you're interested. Cosmo is a sponsor of this site, it's a step up from the generic intakes, but still hums, beacuse it's an SRI.

Considering you get very little out of an intake anyway, might as well save some cash and get a cheapo intake off of ebay.
Just dont skimp on the filter. The K&N filters are oiled ( a few other companies are too) and this oil barrier is what helps prevent water soakage the most.
BTW AEM Bypass valves dont do anything.
I read/watched an indepth review on them once and the only time the force was great enough for the valve to open was when the cone filter was nearly 100% submerged in water, which isnt gonna happen normally.

this is what I have...it works fine. (didnt really see/understand the difference in the real expensive ones. I just added a AEM bypass valve onto this one and it works fine. I'd like to upgrade to a AEM V2...but really dont know if I believe it'd add more power & air flow...
I dont think it'd be worth switching...i mean, this intake works fine. I *think* *hope* Thats a K&N filter on the end of it...

Depending on the size of the pipe, (i think its 70mm..but you should check yours) You can just get on EBAY or go to AEM's website and order the bypass valve that matches to the size of your pipe.
As far as cleaning the filter. Go to your local autoparts store and ask them if they have a
"air filter recharging kit"
Usaully its made by K&N and its a box with 2 bottles of cleaning shit.

Why the fuck would anybody spend $200+ for a 2.5" to 3" pipe. Seems like I saw a thread about going to the hardware store and buying the parts to make your own. BUT: Don't use PVC piping, use 2.5" stainless and make the bends yourself... LOL. I think what makes the V2 so cool is the colors and the performance bends (hmm). I have the K&N Typhoon CAI, works great, but it does hum. I kinda like it.

by the way v2 is dumb as hell, unless you guys are going to put $1000's of dollars into our f22's then you are wasing your time. if anything you would gain a fraction more of a horse??? does that fraction matter? hopefully not

ALL HAIL THE ONE...THE ONLY....'CLASSIC HUMMING EBAY CAI".
Got mine for 22.50 SHIPPED. Won the bid for $12.00.
cAN'T BEAT IT.
i ENDED UP SAWING IT DOWN TO A CUSTOM sHORT rAM. Motherfu**er ROARS NOW!!! Gotta love the fookin sound of an H22 hitting VTEC @4500RPMs and the roar from the intake. Makes me horny just thinking about it!!
I have been meaning to make a vid for you folks, so you can see (and hear) the difference between an H22 and stock (for those who don't already know.) will try and post by the weekend.
