This would ruin your day/night

Last Wed. night, some "thugs" attempted to steal my system out of my car. THIS time they were unsucessful, but they did do some damage. While attemting to break into my car, they pried my door handle about an inch off my car in attempt to break the locks. Something must of scared them away because thats all they did. My car was parked in my parking lot off the main road on OSU campus.

So i woke up the next morning and saw the damage. I noticed that they were unsucessful and this only meant one thing.....they were gonna come back. I was going to stay up all night to stake out and wait for them but i had a final exam the next day.

So, i parked my car on the street under a streetlight hoping this would stop them(our street is fairly busy). I went to bed around 2 only to wake up to frantic neighbor pounding on my door at around 4:20 AM.

"Dude, your window's gone, man", said my neighbor (he was really stoned).

So i run to the road expecting to hear my alam going off, but all i see is no window, no CD player, pretty fucked up interior, and........a blinking red light on my door. These mother fuckers were pros at this shit. They disabled my alarm (don't know how) and fucking stole a $350 CD receiver and did about $900 worth of damage to my car.

I fucking broke my arm the week b4 and now this shit......this has been a great summer break from college and i'm only on week two!

I wouldnt say they are any sort of professional. If you have the stock alarm, it doesnt go off if the window is broken, only if the door is opened.

Speaking of alarms, (and not to hijack your thread...lol ) But i'd like to hear Katana's thoughts & comments on his alarm....don't you have the Viper xv790? (im thinkin about the 791....just wondered if you alarm is enough to keep you at ease with thoughts of your car being safe....do you think your alarm is good enough?

there is something like that...somone lastweek on the board was talkin about an alarm that had a motion sensor...so if you left the windows down and stuck your hand in, the alarm would go off...(not sure which thread it was on though.)

ugh, that sucks.

my roommate's brother's civic was broken into a few weeks ago, and it was actually stolen yesterday in orlando (UCF). he had a lot of stuff on his car too.. it's just gonna be stripped to nothing.

hopefully insurance will pay for it though? .. good luck.

that's why I'm glad that the CL has a coded key for it, so that it can't be hotwired. Yet another reason I love my cl.

I had a previous experience not quite similar but some fools tried to jack me. I was in my whip with four of my boyz blazing and drinking and some fag crept up to my door and saw there was someone in there and ran back in his boys car and took off. I was ripped so my reaction time was a bit slow. Everyone in my car got out ready to base these fags up. That nite me and my boy stayed up vigilant strapped ready for war. They never showed! Sorry about your ryde. Have you ever considered a clifford alarm with a pager.

Dude it is time you place an aftermarket alarm. My Alarm has been critisized beign that it's a prestiege but check it out my buddy who installed it did a little bit of custom so that a few things arent where they are supposed to. Also disconnecting my alarm is a hell of alot harder. My car when armed is super sensative to any sort of shock or vibration and it has motion sensors on the inside, i can arm my alarm with the wondows down and if anything passes throught he window the alarm goes off and the windows go up. When i go off to college i am thinking about also getting a proximity sensor. It's a pain in the ass and abit of money but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I think the proximty sensor is a bit excessive. The others itmes i would say good. I just wish I can afford to put in decent alarm right now. Those things run pretty high if u get the top name brands.

Dude at first i thoguht the same way, my friend is figuring out a way to have the proximity sensor arm seperately with a button. But dude proximity sensor is a good idea if that is happening because it helps deter away the criminals. Liek i said sometime syou gotta do what you gotta do.

In my neck of the woods that is a bad idea. People eventually would figure out in ur area that you have one (It goes off a lot). And they would just ignore it because they probably figure a racoon, cat, or dog etc is setting it off all day/night long.

Factory alarm won't go off on window breakage.. at least mine didn't. I got out of aftermarket stereos altogether after mine got stolen, the factory cd player doesn't sound as bad as you might think. I've heard of people adding functionality to their factory alarms, I couldn't be bothered, I have a house to think about and there's other stuff that needed fixing on my CL. It's always good to have neighbours who would keep an eye on the neighbourhood a bit and help scare away thieves.. I don't want to be in a position of wondering if they were one of the crooks.

Look to the bright side man~!! At least you got insurance for it right?? ur not paying them for nothing anymore right? Think of urself as lucky! They only wanted ur system and not ur whole freaking car!! Feel ya bro..

I used live next to downtime LA USC like on 29th street... I parked my HB civic in my parking spot which was in an alley.... parked it in at 4:00am woke up at 8:00am boom, "where de fuck is my car!!??" the car was fully built with B18 swap.... spent more than 6Gs... and guess what My insurance expired 3 days before it is stolen so car is not covered!! Now I felt like shit for months!!!

Cheer up!!
Grab a few buddies and have some beer or something

clifford and viper alarms should be about the same. They are made by the same company, DEI. The Viper 791 and Clifford RSx 3.5 are the alarms i would probably recommend. I have a Viper 791 and its dayam sensitive. If you were to get a alarm, i would probably suggest you get a backup battery and a secondary siren. The pizzo siren is annoying to thieves, especially when they are in your car. When you put in the back up battery, it'll take theives forever to disarm your alarm if they don't know where it is. Get a pager alarm, it does well. Clifford of Viper are the....shitzezt

Just a month ago I just installed a brand new clifford alarm on my 96 civic, they end up stealing the whole damn car (what happened to ignition kill)... so they stripped everything, ended up totalling the car... and that's how I ended up with my Acura CL today.
