Hi, i have a 99 2.3 CL and my cat needs replacing for NYS emmisions law. The dealer wanted $600 and other places only have CATs for the 3.0

Will 97 accord cat fit?? If not, what year.

Also, are there a reliable site i can it from, i need a legit CAT with 02 sensor hole, thanks.

I recently installed an Eastern catalytic converter for my 99 Subaru Forester w/ P0420 for over a year. See following link for my experience.

DEC also makes a "drop-in" converter which is also fairly reasonable cost.

I have heard of Smith Brothers as a good source for OEM, used converters. See following link. Smith Bros Catalytic Converters

If you have a scanner that can monitor O2 voltage pattern, you can observe the rear O2 sensor pattern. If you see the voltage going from 0.2-0.7 repeatedly w/ frequency of 1-2/sec, over many observations w/ engine fully warm, the cat is bad.

Although my experience was not totally positive, I would do the same thing again. Car has been running fine now for 2 months w/ no CEL.

man, this forum is dead. I have time to use search function so hopefully i'll find my answer.

Ive already gone to the store and ask the guy to ship a 98 accord CAT from his factory, it said we could compare with my actual CAT and see if they are the same.

If its not, i guess i'll try online. DAMN NYS and their stupid ass laws!

im pretty sure the 98 accord cat has a different shaped flange than what you need. it should be a 97 one from what ive read. let us know how the comparison turns out.

the 98 didnt fit so i at the last hope, i want to some muffler shop, and they said that they would have it for me tomrow, and i could just pay the $250 for it and install it myself. Im pretty sketchy because no where else where i live have them, so i dont know if its direct fit or universal. I keep you guys posted tomrow when i go there and check it out.

www.convertergeek.com my CEL is on too i found this site and they are pretty cheap. i'm not sure if they come with gaskets and stuff but it does say its a direct fit. my emissions are coming up as well so i'm going to have to order one soon too. let me know how it goes.
