Why would HID be ok?

I was interested in getting the UR pullies. I was looking through some of the disadvantages of having pullies and one of the ones that I've read about is headlight dimming. I've seen replies from some of the members that if you get HID's you won't have to worry about the headlight dimming. Well, what I want to know is what is that? Where do HID's get their power from?

HID's get power from the same source as normal headlights. I think that the problem with UR pullies was that they burn out your alternator in no time, and you need to buy a new, higher amp. alternator. I was thinking about doing pullies, but realized the price of the pullies, then new alternator and install would not equal the maybe 8 hp you get out of them. BTW, HID's do pull less current than normal bulbs, so it would make sense that they don't dim.

hid's are only 35 watts, so they use less than the stock headlight bulbs. now those 35 watts get converted into a ridiculous volt figure, which alows them to produce so much light.

they draw about 20 amps during warm-up then drop to about 5. my hid dont dim at all with my pullies. they draw substantially less power after warming up than 65 watt 9006s
