What is the milage on your CL? (1st Gen)
After doing a lot of research on the internet on boards like these, I finally bought a CL. It's a 97 2.2 with the Premium package. It's mostly stock (right now ). I just got it tinted and installed platinum spark plugs in it. I've got about 110K miles on this thing... Do you think it's too much? I've heard Acuras have a life of 200-250K miles. I don't know how true that is.
So I'm wondering how many miles have you guys packed on your cars? Also if you guys have any tips and stuff for me to keep my CL going longer and also post your views on this topic.

I heard that every couple of months one of these polls pops up about how many miles on your car... I don't understand it though... for some reason the average seems to get higher and higher... whatever.

110 and going strong...
Being a student I'm not gonna be buying another car for a long time now... gonna take this thing till the end of time
The check engine light came on last week... I used the paperclip trick and the ODB code came out to be a cylinder misfire. I changed the spark plugs, wires, caps and rotors. Got a tune-up from the garage and the light went away. But the darn light came on again after a few days.
I love the look and feel of this car. Both the interior and exterior design is sleek. Lets hope this thing doesn't bug me too much...

46K, i've owned every mile of it. other than the dashboard and sunroof rattles every now and then (anyone got an easy fix for these?), it runs absolutely perfect. just remember to do the normal maintenance and it'll run forever. then start adding mods
congrats on the purchase

son, what grade gas are you using? if it's below 89, try moving to 89 or higher. my engine used to knock forever and could never figure out what the hell was wrong and the engine light was always coming on; i always thought the metalic rattling sound was coming from the front wheels. anyhow, my cheap-ass was using 87. now i've upgraded to 89. the sound went away with the engine light. it basically caused by premature spark from using cheap gas. i had to figure this on my own... basically by try and error and reading info on the internet.

110,000 miles and counting..
I am on trany #2, tho. Bought the car certified at 43,000 and the orignial tranny died 3K later. Replaced for free under warranty and seems to be okay.
I definitely recommend using 89 octane or higher. In NJ you only pay about 9-10cents more per gallon, and when u consider that it saves a LOT of engine haslle down the road, it pays for itself.
I haven't changed the timing belt yet... living on the edge, I suppose...

Check Engine Gone !
So I got the check engine light thing figured, I think. I got the fuel injector cleaned for free from the same guy who did the spark plugs and wires. He also cautioned me about the filth in the gas tank...
Fgzar - the mechanic gave me the same advice - USE BETTER GAS. And I have started putting 91 instead of 87. I haven't yet felt any difference, but I bet the engine has.
The light hasn't come back... and I hope it stays that way.
I see a lot of people getting worried about their transmissions starting to fail... is there any way to keep your transmission healthy? It's going smooth right now, should I get it tuned may be?
