What makes my car so sluggish??

I know that the 2.2 auto cl are a slow car but a couple of years ago it was riding smooth with new shocks and doing the usual routine maintenance but right now it is so sluggish. it rides really rough and seems the engine is having trouble performing. is there something that i need to replace besides the oil. i only have about 150k on it. any help is appreciated thanks

Change your sparkplugs, seafoam the motor to get the carbon buildup out, clean out your intake filter, change ur motor and tranny oil, that should help some. i remember my f23 needed a slight valve adjustment too, might wanna check that out.

Change your spark plugs, wires, do a seafoam or fuel system treatment, change your oil and tranny fluid, wash rinse repeat.

Do you get any CEL's? Could be a problem with an o2 sensor or EGR too

costs about 7$ or w/e the parts store charge for seafoam in your area. takes about thirty mintues, most of the time you are just waiting.

i heard some people were having trouble getting the old spark plugs out cus they siezed. i need to change mine as i dont know when they were dont last and ive had the car for almost 20k. and would it be a wise idea to pull a o2 sensor off a junkyard accord. and should i replace both sensors when i do this? i dont even know how to change the tranny oil either

OP: do a tune up, like BlackAck said. It will be better

1slo23: seafoam clings to all the carbon build up in your engine and aids in burning it off. Its cheap at a parts store, look for the DYI and change your oil right after.

Blind: Get a Spark plug socket and an extension, DYI. Be very careful as you may damage the thread in the head. Plugs last for about 60K miles IIRC.
Don't pull O2 sensors from a junked car, just cough up some green and get new ones. Replace both. It's worth it.
Tranny oil is acessed from underneath the car, close to passenger side axle. there are 2 bolts, the top is the filler bolt, the bottom is the drain. Proper level is when it is even with the drain hole. This is for a 5 speed manual BTW. Autos need to be refilled with a machine. You can get a flush or a Drain and Fill.

Has your timing belt ever been replaced? sometimes when they get old the can slip a few teeth and cause poor performance.

i really just like doing things myself as i dont trust a single person with my car. only 1 mechanic ever touched my car and he scratched my tinted windows when he did a window regulator. he blew me off until i gave him my dads/lawyers card and told him to go f*** himself so it wouldnt hurt so bad once i did it in court.

hey blind shooter better get educated and start doing shit on your own...and stop throwing your dad's/lawyers card around...if you can't do shit then trust the mechanics to do it and yes not everyone is perfect......

so start picking up the tools and start working on your car and trust me you will be super happy and confident....and we are all here to hlep you all the way.....

later
