well that sucks!!!
I was looking around over on ebay and came across this j30a1 motor.
"Good used complete Engine from a Honda Accord. This is a clean engine that ran good. Comes complete with alternator, AC Compressor, starter, power steering pump, smog pump (if equipped), main engine wiring harness to computer(not guaranteed to be usable for your application), Intake, Exhaust manifolds, eng.computer, Y-Pipe, fuel pump (from tank). We tried to our best ability to remove this as a usable changeover assembly (AC Lines, p/s hoses, wiring). Please see warranty info though. Please note, I do not require a core back for this engine.st.15543"
Anyways, is there a dang Smog pump on ours cars, or when they said (if equipped) do they mean if these cars have a smog pump then it's probably there. If our cars have one, I'll find it and take the dang thing off.

A smog pump was used on some vehicles (mine was on my Mustang). They would use them to supply fresh air to the exhaust system causing the catalyst to burn more hydrocarbons in the exhaust, I think...
Well, after writing that, I grabbed my Chilton's and read what it does:
"It is a belt driven air pump that would inject fresh air into the hot exhaust stream through the engine exhaust ports. The result is the extended burning of those fumes which were not completely ignited in the combustion chamber and the subsequent reduction of some of the hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide content of the exhaust emissions into harmless carbon dioxide and water."
