a week with a tsx

i'm having my power window and an abs sensor fixed in my car so the dealership gave me a '06 tsx auto. for a loaner. for some reason its been 6 days and my car still isn't fixed. i don't care, i get to drive a new car, so i thought i'd share my thoughts on the car if any of you are possibly looking into getting a tsx for your next car.

first off, i'm impressed my the smoothness and quietness of the engine. by far the best 4 cylinder i have ever driven. handles better than my '98 2.3. the transmission has very positive shifts and good shift points. has a kick ass stereo (8 speakers.) every button and instrument inside the car has high quality and it feels (like all acuras i have driven) solid. very sharp lookin car.

on the other hand, the engine does not feel like 205 horse power... even when driven to redline it just doesn't impress me. the car has 800 miles on it so i would assume its pretty much 100% broken in. unless you take the car over 5,500rpm... doesn't feel any more powerful than my 150 h.p. (with V2 intake) CL. the car does feel light on its feet... but the lack of torque (i think it has 164lb./ft) is just disappointing. not right now, but i was thinking about maybe getting a used one in a few years, but after having it for a week i think i would opt for an accord coupe with a V6. im sure the car would feel better with a 6 speed, but if you have the A/C on and two other people in the car, it's a dog. for $28k i would want something with a lil more muscle.

i am the type of person who likes "spirited driving" so maybe thats why im not impressed by it. but if your looking for something good on gas for everyday driving around the city, its perfect. if your someone who likes to just light it up once in awhile this car is not for you. i just hope the next tsx with have a bigger engine or forced induction. just my

Sweet, it looks like a fun car to drive.

Personally, I like the big sister. The TL will be my next car.

if the TSX does end up getting that power plant, I may stick to I4's just a little longer once I get out of school

No harm in that. Although the V6s are smoother and more powerful, the little rambunctious inline 4 is a lot of fun to play around with.

I've had the tsx as a loaner a bunch of times before. I love the interior and handling. The engine isn't that bad for a 4 cylinder - pretty torquey (might be the vtec-i). I'd consider buying one. I'm a little turned off from acuras though considering the recent tranny problems (97-03).

After driving both the TSX auto and manual and then an Accord Coupe v6, I personally lean towards the TSX manual.

While the power of the Accord is great, it feels LARGE. The TSX handles so much better and feels a lot lighter through spirited turns than the Accord.

I looked again at an Accord today, I've decided it's just not what I want. It the pieces fall into place in the next year as they have started to, I'll have an '04 TL. If not, I'm more than happy to settle into a TSX.

inline 4 to a V6 there is no comparison. I've owned plenty of I-4 cars and I couldn't ever go back unless I can't afford a V6

But ay, I'm biased when it comes to that.

Me neither! I drive my girls 99 SI a bunch cuz its a stick and the automatic gets old in the CL. The TSX is an ok car, its not competitive in its class... On the other hand, the TL is an awesome driver! I had one for a week, when my rotors and axle was replace. That is one sweet car!

Exactly I would have a hard time taking my boss out for a business luncheon in STi or EVO, plus I got heated seats and mirrors
