V6 Prelude?

V6 Prelude?
Never heard of it, but it seems like a no-brainer. Being that the prelude is so similar to the accord I'd think that the 3.0 should fit nicely. And where the 3.0 fits, so does the 3.2!
Thoughts?
Thoughts?

.. the prelude engines better then a v6 honda motor.. theres more parts out for it.... and they're nothing alike.. its like putting an h22a in your 3.0/3.2.. you'd have to make custom mounts and everything, i'd be a waste to put a v6 in a prelude

F0de,
How would a V6 prelude be a "waste"? I'll agree that the H22A is a great engine, but can you explain to me what you have against an extra 50 ft-lb of torque?
I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm not comparing 2.2 and 3.0. I'm comparing Accord engine bay to Prelude engine bay.
Although there are lots of upgrades for the H22A, there is a very significant upgrade for the 3.0 as well: 3.2 type S.
I'm sure you're thinking that your beloved H22A would toast a 3.2...once you boost it to 14 psi. Maybe so, but for someone who is not necessarily dependant on the aftermarket, the V6 IS a better starting point. Damn, I never thought I'd say this, but "you race HP, but you drive torque". Blah, I feel so dirty...
Finally, how do you know that the Accord mounts wouldn't fit? I think you're just guessing (like I'm guessing they would). Take your mind of your 4 cyl fetish for 2 minutes and try again please.
Thanks,

why don't you get over 64 posts before you start acting like a smart ass.. the 2.x cl and accord are close to having the same engine bay as a prelude due to the motors that the 3 of them have, h22a and f22a, which the difference is DOHC and SOHC... why do you think no one ever put an h22a in a 3.x cl? because the mounts are entirely too different, it would involve so much custom fabrication.. it wouldn't be worth it, now.. to switch a v6 honda motor into a prelude.. is pointless.. go find me a few companys that makes parts for a v6 first.. yah not many are there.. then when you figure out how to make the custom motor mounts, assuming your really good with metal.. oh thats right you prolly aren't.. so now your paying a few thousand dollars to someone.. who knows what they're doing, to make you custom motor mounts, rewire the whole car.. and how much is a new 3.2cl type s motor?.. we'll estimate 5k.. so your at an estimated 7k now.. and you have a stock v6 motor in your prelude.. dump 7k into an h22a.. guess where your going? straight to the 10's your extra 50 ft/lbs of torque isn't doing shit on a fully built lude motor with a turbo.. is it, why don't you go and do some research before you bash someone as well

I just can't wait that long, f0de. How long did you have to wait to earn that honor?
But if you're implying that the sum total of posts somehow correlates to the poster's intelligence...well I think you need to re-examine your philosophy.
why do you think no one ever put an h22a in a 3.x cl?
Dunno. Maybe they like the V6?
because the mounts are entirely too different, it would involve so much custom fabrication
Is that so. I was under the impression that it was a drop in.
to switch a v6 honda motor into a prelude.. is pointless.. go find me a few companys that makes parts for a v6 first.. yah not many are there..
Ok, yes, we've already established that there is virtually no aftermarket for the V6. To humble little me, that doesn't make it "pointless". I'd love a V6 prelude because 1) extra torque and 2) no one else has one.
then when you figure out how to make the custom motor mounts, assuming your really good with metal.. oh thats right you prolly aren't..
Whoa, whoa, hold on F0de, who said that limequat can't work metal? I've made a few mounts in my day.
rewire the whole car..
C'mon, we both know that's an exaggeration. You'd start with a V6 engine harness and ECU and work from there. Just like any other engine swap.
and how much is a new 3.2cl type s motor?..
we'll estimate 5k.. so your at an estimated 7k now.. and you have a stock v6 motor in your prelude.. dump 7k into an h22a.. guess where your going? straight to the 10's your extra 50 ft/lbs of torque isn't doing shit on a fully built lude motor with a turbo..
Ok, I understand what you're trying to say here. Speed is money, yada, yada. But really, who cares about the economics lesson (btw, I'm pretty sure I could make a V6 prelude happen for a lot less than $7k)?
Ok your 'lude engine is better than any V6. Fine. Ok, got it. I just wanted to know if it can be or has been done.
why don't you go and do some research before you bash someone as well
I'm sorry, did you think I was BASHING you? Dude, seriously, lighten up. I can tell you're a bit upset. Let's just talk about V6s Hondas and let the egos go, alright?

2) The h22 won't fit into the 3.X CL without changing the motor mounts...it does not drop right in...it drops right into the 2.2/2.3 CL...and if knew more about the CL'S you would know that the engine bays are different sizes...
3) Why would you want to waste your money on the honda V6 motor just to be the only one to have that motor in your car...the money you would spend on that motor would be stupid considering the stuff you could do to the h22..

Lastime I checked, most full blown drag cars run H22/23s......not Honda V6s. Even normally aspirated, the fastest n/a Hondas on the planet are H22/23s, punched out to 2.5 etc etc, not V6s. With that aside, on to street applications, what to do about that extra 50ft lbs of torque the V6 gives you, you make it up w/ rpm/revs (hp=tqxrpm/5252) and closer gearing that the h22 transmission provides. (Which makes up the power deficit and retains driveability). We probably don't need to get into the weight of said motors either.....

Limequat, that was the funniest thing I have seen on this forum since my big argument a couple months ago.
the people on this forum are a little too into the forum, they sit by their computer a little too much when they should more time hooking up their cars. i have only 150 or something posts and i been here since 5/01, see what mean, it doesnt matter how many posts you have
anyways, build your V6, fuck them, you will show them when you blow past them
btw-- the reason you see H22s in drag cars is because that is the class they are going for, if they were in the 6cyl class they would race supras, 300zs, ect

Dude, we're talking semantics here...But if you can BUY STOCK PARTS to finish your conversion, I call it "drop in".
Throw another pronoun or two into that last part so I know what you're talking about. Are you trying to say that CLs have different engine bays? C'mon. I'm not THAT dumb.
3) Why would you want to waste your money on the honda V6 motor just to be the only one to have that motor in your car...the money you would spend on that motor would be stupid considering the stuff you could do to the h22..
The individuality thing was one of two things I listed. Torque was the other. I still believe that those are two very good reasons.
You may think that is "stupid", but car mods are kinda subjective, ya know? Like I think neon is stupid and yet it is a widely accepted mod.
Horny boy, did you see that? If you squint really hard I think you'll see a world beyond the H22A...
Whether you believe it or not, there is a reason why CLs, TLs, and the like were never offered with it.

WTF is goin on in here?? lime u have a lude or what? as far as swappina v6 for originality i get that, but with that kind of $$$$ u would have one of the fastest, built up h22 ludes in ur area n e ways, makin it very original. i really dont think the lude has enough room for the j30, comtech barely fit a SC under there. thats the best thing about a first gen cl. the engine bay is big enough for the j30 so us f series gots tons of room, and even with a h22 swapped in there is plenty of room. hey if u got the $$$ go for it, but it really doesnt add up to me.

Geez, why the hating fellas? Limequat asked for some help and most people are just hassling him. If you think his mod is a silly idea that's fine, you probably won't have advice to help him. But there's no need to attack the guy just because he doesn't have a ton of posts! Fode doesn't have all the answers, and his opinions on how to do things are no more or less valuable than anyone else's, so I'm curious why there's so much defending of him going on here. He's a big boy; he can take care of himself.

Fode doesn't have all the answers, and his opinions on how to do things are no more or less valuable than anyone else's, so I'm curious why there's so much defending of him going on here. He's a big boy; he can take care of himself.

quit trying to jack up your post count and relax, I am not saying my car is better, thats up to you all. I am picking up my custom Mugen grill tomorrow to take it to my painter so he can finish painting the car to give you an idea.
I will have pics in one week, if I can get the rest of the body kit in and on the car
so just hold up, its coming
Clac22 will also be appearing at Seneca Park
