Something had to be done to it to make it run 14.7. The stock prelude that weighs about 300 or so lbs. less isnt near that fast.

I thought the original guestion here was "What engine do you have?" I have the 2.3 and that is what my bank account liked at the time. Even if I do a H22A swap there will always be a 6 cyclinder out there to out run me, Porsche, Supra, Maxima, Grand National, Acura 3.2-S, BMW...ect. These bone stock, will spank a stock H22A Prelude. Mod or juice any of those cars and see what happens. Stock H22A's are dynoing at around 150hp and i/h/e are in the 160's. A 3.0 does that, but look what a 3.2 does and now they have a 6 speed. My car should dyno close to 150hp. My friend has a 10 sec CRX, but it is a race car with Lexan windows and tube frame, no interior with a 300hp 2.2 4 banger in it (no juice, no forced induction). I guess to end my rambling you can build a 6 cyl. more powerfull than a 4 cyl with more torque. There are some 900hp Supras out there and no 900hp 2.2's that I know about. I do like my 4 banger and I am getting an H22A in the future, because I like the lines of my 1st gen CL with 5 speed and a DOHC is better than OHC. Alot can be done with JDM cams, head and intakes that I can't do with my engine.

actually theres a 3000hp 4 cylinder.. its a pro funny car.. body looks like an integra.. runs 4's i think.. you can make a 4 cylinder do anything, it just involves more money at first.. but try building an all out race v8 and a I4.. the 4's going to be cheaper and prolly go faster considering you have to buy twice the stuff for the v8.. btw i thought this thread was about what engine you guys have..

I have a 3.0, love the power. Even though Auto gets a lil boring at times, its ok cuz I live in the city anyway. If Acura made a 3.0 with a stick... we could have our cake and eat it too.

Maybe my next mod will be getting the 3.0 from the NSX. Granted it's still an auto, but it's DOHC (258 HP)!

Well, I can dream, can't I! :P
Is that swap even possible? given that its for a mid engined- rear wheel drive car?? I do understand it was just a dream of yours; but now i'm curious if its even possible.

I think it's possible. I saw a rebuilder on Ebay once and I had to hold myself back.
At first I thought the NSX 3.0 was a precursor to the Accord 3.0, but they don't seem to have much in common. Different bore, different -ahem- strokes...
Should be very doable.
However, if you look at the 260hp CL-S engine you'll notice that it has a much more agreeable torque curve than the NSX, with nearly the same power! THAT would be a more ideal swap, but "NSX engine" has a certain ring to it, doesn't it?

The NSX engine spins the opposite direction than any other Honda/Acura. Nothing would work on a drop in, with a front wheel drive car. They did it that way so everyone could not just drop in an NSX motor in their Accords and things like that. Since it is only a motor, you could make it work somehow, but it would be extreamly costly I imaging.

Before I got my 2.2, I thought about getting a 3.0 but there was the whole transmission issue. I wanted a 5 speed because I had an automatic civic before this. Althought it would be nice to have tyhe 3.0 for the increase in power. Now that I ahve the s2000 it really isnt an issue any more.

If I could go back to when I bought my 2.2, I would ...still get the 2.2

s2000 is my weekend car

Seems like there is a little more potential with the 4 cyl since they are stricken with the tranny from hell.

I've found a lot more aftermarket stuff for the 4 cyl than is avail for the 6. Dont know that that makes it better, just what I've found.

I'm glad to have the 5 speed and be able to upgrade the fly, clutch, LSD, etc. Similarly turbo kits for the 4 are available as well as internal upgrades like pistons/rods/sleeves (probably avail to the 6 too, but not as common).

Regardless, the 6 will always be governed by the tranny and limits the potential of the J series.

I till think that the 2.2 has more mod potential, but if you are going for a faster car stock, I would get the 3.0. If you plan to do upgrades, then I think that the 2.2 is better for that.

I love my V6, and my auto. I'm prob the only one on here that wouldn't take a free manual swap in my car. I don't want the hassle, as a lot of my driving is in the city, etc. My auto does fine, and jumps quite well when I floor it. If I was buying a Porsche, etc then I'd want a manual, but not in this car.

Oh, and for all the H22a wanna-swapers...the hp doesn't mean jack - torque baby! not peak torque either...you gotta look at the whole curve. I've driven my friends Prelude...and no offence to any 4 banger owners, but fuk that - I don't wanna have to rev my engine to 4500+ to get it to move decently.

What?! the dealer will do a auto to manual swap? no way! have anybody hear anything about the 03 Accord v6 6speed swap yet? I heard that it would be easier than the 3.2CLS tranny.

The CL type-S has an LSD tranny. The Accords dont. Same type of tranny though.
