V1 installation on acura cl?

Does anyone here have a Valentine One hardwired to their 1st gen CLs? How did you run the wires? Whered you put the remote display unit? Any problems?? And do you have any pics? All the pics I've seen are for the 2nd gens...

I have just a regular radar hard wired and i just ran the wires from the fuse box up the dash and tucked them under trim. The V1 cant be much different. I would mount the V1 to the left up the rear view and then have the remote display in the middle of the gauges. Or if you want it to look better try to mold it into the radio pocket or ash tray cover

I have the V1 hardwired. I did exactly what 1stgen did. I ran the cord up from the fuse box, underneath the steering wheel, up and tucked in the trim, and then tucked up and under the top of the windshield area to the V1 at the left of the mirror. The concealed display is right in the middle of the gauges. Sorry I dont have pics right now..maybe when I get home from work.

How do you get the power from the fusebox? Doesnt this thing come with a built in fuse? Sorry I'm not too familiar with this whole fusebox thing. And how do you get the remote display unit to intergrate between the gauges without that ugly wire hanging out? thanks

I have a Passport 8500 hardwired with the extra connection for the mute button. My local car stereo spot did it for $25. Don't kill me on this one guys but I think in my opinion that the Passport is much better that the V1. I haven't had a problem with it since I got it in January. Its easy to use and you can get it to not alert you to whatever frequency you don't want like X Band in my area since no one uses it here unless your a microwave oven or an automatic door. Check out www.radartest.com for their results on the radars. You can e-mail them for more answers.

I am firstly not putting down the passport 8850, I know that both the V1 and the 8500 are great radar detectors...most likely the best all around. One thing though, I dont remember where, but I think it was proven that Escort was the main funding company for the www.radartest.com testing, hence there high praise for the unit. Once again, I know that both are great systems and am sure that they both do very well.

Personally I have the V1..now for the hardwiring, you need to find yourself a 12v fuse. There should be one that is free in the fuse box. I will make try and Splice the wire to connect the V1....cut it off at the end and fray the wires. After doing that, put the now visible wires into the fuse area, then snap the fuse back in. All should be well...now to get to the concealed view.

Run the wire underneath the steering wheel column. To do this you will need to snap off the plastic guard where you knees would be if you were sitting in the drivers seat. Be careful when taking off the ashtray..I didnt see the screw there and snaped it off.

All in all this is a pretty easy install, but it takes a little time to get used to working around that area of the car. If you really dont feel up to it, pay someone to do.
