Angry Tune-Up

I just took my 98 CL 3.0 with 90,000 miles to Meineke, who wanted to charge me $1200 for a tune-up with timing belt replacement. That sounded ludicrous to me, so I said no thanks. I wanted to ask you more experienced folk what a tune-up with timing belt replacement plus labor should run? Anybody?

Well a Timing Belt Job for the V6's are more expensive for a few reasons. But typically around the $700 -900 range.

For 3.0 cl, Acura dealership in baltimore wants $1200 timing belt , waterpump, idler pulley, etc.

I wonder if a Honda dealership would be cheaper ?

it was around $3XX for me to have my timing belt replaced along with the UR pullies. Nothing else was done for that price.

Your typical tune up aside from the belts, should only add up to about $140 or so and can be done in your own garage.

wires (ngk for about $40)
plugs (ngk for $2 each)
air filter (no more than $20 from fram)
fuel filter (we sold em for $14-$28)
cap and rotor if you really want it (range around $20 - $30 for both)

These are the prices at which the shop I use to work at would sell this for. It varies from car to car. Really, the only thing that is a pain in the ass would be the timing belt. That can be done at any shop for a good price.
