Trunk Springs Question

Whats up everybody.

Im new and YES I did a search on the subject which came up with nothing. My question is does anyone else have a problem with their trunk not staying open beacause of weak trunk springs? I do have a spoiler and i think that may be the issue, but i would think that acura would have made the springs stronger because of it. Does anyone else have this problem?

Any input is appreciated

Find a salvage yard that has the car and go pull them out.

My car originally didnt have a spoiler when I bought it. I recently purchased an OEM spoiler and had Acura install it for me. It came with these two strange shaped bars that attach the trunk hinges. They make my trunk pop open great with my remote, even with the spoiler on. Maybe someone else can elaborate on what those two little bars are called. I can take a digi pic and post tonight to better describe....GOOD LUCK and Welcome aboard!!

trunk

I had a 2001 cl. it was fine when i had just a spoiler, but when i dynomatted the trunklid i had this problem. It wouldn't stay up unless i pussed it all the way up. Before this it would raise on its own. It could be the spoiler, but wouldn't think it is that heavy, probably just ware and tear. Is it springs or hydraulic?

It's the position of the springs. They need to be adjusted to balance the weight of the spoiler.

Refer to this link to see which parts need adjustment: http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net/...gry5=TRUNK+LID The springs are "Illustrations #13 & #14".

There are several "slots" in which the springs can be mounted. You just need to move the springs to the "other" position choice in the trunk.

Sorry to be so vague, but I haven't look at the springs in a while to know exactly how to word it.

Thanks Dust for clearing that up. Those "bars" I was refering to are actually the springs you are refering to.....I didnt have those until I bought my spoiler....(I think). Acura installed it for me.

Mine is really bad too. I don't trust putting my head in there to get something as it is sure to come down on my melon. I can remember a friend having a 90 Accord EX with the spoiler and there was some sort of recall for Accords with spoilers for a stiffer torsion spring.

I got in the trunk and looked at the springs mine are in the front or should I say futhest to the rear of the car. Will moveing them back make them stonger? And how do I move them?

Yeah, mine used to be perfect, but once I bought the spoiler, the springs seem too weak to hold it up.

Sorry, I just now saw this!

I believe that they will. I have never adjusted them myself due to the fact that I bought my CL with the spoiler on it already. I've not had the need to try adjusting them.
