Tried to top out speedo
some of you might be familiar with I-99 in central/western pa. nice open road, few if any cops, although a bit hilly. so i start goin for it on a flat part, but when i got to about 130 i started goin uphill a bit so it pretty much died. im guessing on a flat road a 3.0 should have enough balls to get to at least 140 right?

i was driving on the highway @ 2am and this pos civic rips it. hes about 40 yards ahead of me when i decided to chase um down (i was bored, and i wanted to get home asap) at around 90 i caught up and i kept going til i reached 125(he was left behind, gone). i saw cars up ahead so i slowed down. wooo hooo it was fun ^-^

weird thing, i'm only able to hit around 130 w/ a CAI but when I had my short ram on I was able to go all the way. I hit the speedo and kept on going for a little while

I've travelled that highway from Bedford to Altoona (and back), hundreds of times! My cousin (who works for PennDot) helped design the highway when it was just known as "220".
Are they still working on the bridge around the Roaring Spring Exit? Last time I was up there, they made you cross from the northbound lanes over to the southbound lanes to get over the bridge.
I've never really opened it up on that highway. I was always afraid of cops and deer.
GO PENN STATE!!!!!!

HAHAHA penn state. im up in state college right now. honestly though our speedos have to be off at those kinds of speeds, but as far as i know there is no limiter on the 2.2cl except for redline fuel cut-off. i have yet to see it go past 130. really dont have the need to. i know most civics and tegs are pretty close to redline by then. i dont really race though.

Heh pretty cool....yeah they're still working on that bridge, seems like they have a ways to go as of now. Good point about the deer, last weekend i must have seen 6 or 8 dead deer on the side of the road just between bedford and state college.

I hit 135 on 465 N around Indianapolis about 5 in the morning...I let off not the car. DAMN thats fast. Do 97 CL 3.0 even have a govener. It got to 120 fairly fast but after that it took a long time to reach 135. I guess i ll have to find out how fast my baby can go

Today I was driving home from college and hit 120 in my 99 3.0. I was on a flat ass road. I hit my acc a little too hard and went from 60-120 in a time that seemed faster than my 0-60( after a tiny delay, of course ) I was scared. You guys are fucking nuts in my opinion. Though, I must add that once I was at 120, it took a while me to get back down. It was really fun. The cars that were passing me out earlier tried to catch up but apparently couldn't/'wouldn't. Once I slowed down one guy in some Alero passed me showing me the bird, so who knows.
I was weaving through traffic that was going mostly 80-90, so I was nonetheless surprised at how nimble my little bitch was. I wasn't looking at my tach because I was trying to avoid the dumbasses who were still in the left lane. It was surprisingly cool out too, so I think that may have played a small part in the amazingly fast crawl to 120, haha.
On a similar note, about an hour later, doing 90-100 on I 59 south in MS I passed by a VW jetta that was completely demolished. Crews were trying to pry someone out of the passenger's side. I slowed the fuck down. To me, driving past 90 is a little crazy. That jetta was totally crushed. It hit the median pretty fast. We were all slowing down as we passed by the accident and I asked an officer directing traffic if they needed any help ( because I had a tire iron, of course ) . He said the car hit the median at an excess of 20 miles above the speed limit, which would make 90 mph...basically implying there wasn't much anyone could do, so you guys who go 140 regularly should watch out. I'm probably not one to preach, but I think it should be said: I just waxed my car, so if I ever drive up and you mofos hit me, I'ma bust some ass. That accident really shook me up, it was the worst I've ever seen. I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but I'm just trying to tell you guys to be careful.

the highest i've hit was like 105-110. it was on the way up to tallahassee on I-75. bunch of cars, must have been like 10-11 cars, were going at that speed weaving thru the slower traffic. and seems like my car still has some go to it. but i'm too much of a chicken shit to put it to the max. you never know what road hazard is ahead of you and even a lil rock chip can make you lose control. so i tried not to good way too fast. in most of my miami-tallahassee trips, i usually go at about 85-95. that's still way too fast, but it's kinda hard to slow down cuz you really don't feel that car going that fast.
