Transmission flush machine

I am getting up to 105K on my 3.0, and got a advertizement from a local independent offering a transmission flush for $80.00. He says for more $ he'd use Honda ATF (which I would insist on).

My question: Is there a particular machine that Acura uses in this job? Is there one better than others?

OEM Spark plugs for 3.0

Are the NGK plugs listed in the manual available at most AutoParts stores? Are they the exact same as you would get if you went to a dealer. I'm due for a major tune-up at 105K and would like my local mechanic to do it, but I want the same plugs as a dealer would give me.

I think a machine called the BG 2000 is supposed to be the best. The Firestone up here says it's guaranteed not to mess up your tranny because it has such high pressure to remove ALL the crap in there and start with fresh fluid. However, I've only done the drain/fill, so I can't verify...

The pressure of the flush machines is what destroy's the transmissions... if you're clutch packs are already being burned up, then there's a bunch of metal laying on the bottom of the transmission and it stirs that up and pushes it through the transmission which will damage it even more. Just do a drain/fill on your own like 3 times and it will be close to the equivalent of flushing - it wont stir anything up and after 3 times it'll be like 90% new fluid.

The techs at Acura told me that it is not the machine that puts preasure to the system. The flow is generated by the transmission's internal pump. This discusson is one of old threads. I flushed my wife's Accord last September and it has been fine. Do it once a year. BUT, and this is VERY IMPORTANT... If your transmission is already screwed up... DO NOT FLUSH IT. Just drain and fill, and be ready for the replacement bill. But, if your transmission is in good condition and the service schedule has been upheld, a flush will not hurt your transmission at all. My new transmission is due for its first flush in September. My old one had never been serviced by the original owner in 90,000 miles. The fluid was graphite colored when it came out. BAD SIGN. anyway, good luck. Oh, the manual says to change the ATF every 15,000 miles... or yearly.
