tranny or exhaust problem??

ok well i think its both my tranny (auto) and exhaust but yeah.

well first off when im in park and rev to 5k rpms, it sounds like theres a pea rattling around in a tin can. or even driving at a moderate speed i some times can hear the same thing.

part 2
was trying to use my crusie control to get home since it was 3am. and all of a sudden the car starts to loses speed. not going up hill or down hill. and before that the car would not let me rev passed 4k rpm's. and so once i realized something was up with my tranny i started driving w/o cruise control. so im going about 70 step on the gas a bit im guessing i was in D3 considering i was hitting about 4k rpms and i was going at a resonable speed so i let off the gas and to let it go to D4 wouldnt go to D4. it just kept going 4k. had to keep on acceling and decelling to finally catch D4.

Can anyone please tell me exactly whats wrong and what i should do to fix it. and also is it true that to flush the tranny all you do is unscrew a plug and let it out and to refill you add it where the dip stick is? Much appriciated in advanced

I would think the rattling is possibly a heat shield on the exhaust. As to a transmission flush, I believe it's somewhat more involved than you described, and that a true flush has to be done by a qualified tech with the right equipment.

you can drain the tranny I believe, but to flush it, it needs to be hooked up to a tranny flush machine. I know you definately can't refill it where the dip stick is.

dont flush it... it will make it worse. just drain and refill. the filter is inside and cannot be changed w/o disassembly. check ur tranny sensors.. mainly the vcs. vehicle speed sensor.
