Tranny Code Location

Recently my tranny started to act up since it has gotten cold here. Since i have read here that they have a tendancy to go bad, i want to buy a used tranny from a junk yard, rebuild it with a rebuild kit and have a guy swap the trannys. At which point i would rebuild the original one and either sell it or keep it as a spare. Now my question is do you guys know where the code is on the tranny?? The code being: M7ZA. I dont want to go to the yard and have them give me one from a 95-02 accord: that code being B7XA or MPZA. Even though they are almost the same...

Anyone got pics of the location of the code???

you have a 99 so only a 98/99 tranny will work. the 97 tranny has more sensors (vss, shaft speed sensors, pressure sensors) than yours so it wont work. my tranny was manufactured in 1998 it is actually a B7ZA tranny, i have a 99. there are actually two different codes B7ZA and M7ZA. eather one will work but it has to be from a 98 or 99. the wearable insides (clutch packs, planatary gears) are identical to the accord tranny however the end cap on the accord tranny is bigger. if you go anywhere they will say its the same tranny from the 97-99 3.0 cl. they just dont know. you cannot go wrong with a 98 or 99 tranny.

there is a sticker with a bar code and some numbers beneath it on your tranny. give that number to the parts department at an acura dealership and they can cross reference that number to find out which tranny you have (B7ZA OR M7ZA)

Wilp99 When you were taking yours apart do you remember where it was? What i mean by this is was it on top under the hood or on bottom underneath the car? Now lets say that I currently have a B7ZA and i buy and rebuild a M7ZA from 98 or 99 or the other way around. When i have them switched, will there be any problems with the ECU or tranny computer accepting the different tranny or not?

Im doing it this way because i need the car to be on the road. Its more efficient for me to do it this way. By the way, how much total Honda ATF fluid goes into the tranny?

yea man.. are you doin the rebuild yourself. cause your gonna need a manual. go here.

http://www.helminc.com/helm/Result.a...SHDMA8JJ8XAEC8

and get this manual. it will save you tons of money on your car.

also go here to get the master rebuild kit.

http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/me...roduct_Count=1

and a new filter

http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/me...roduct_Count=0

i dont remember what side of the tranny has the barcode sticker. but it is the same rebuild kit for all the trannies. the kit comes with pointers between what parts to use between the different trannies.

heres a few pics of my rebuild. it took me 2 weeks but most of that was waiting for a part (shift detent arm which i have an extra of just incase you break yours they are kind of pricey for the size 40$ and they are about 1 square inch big but if you need it hit me up and ill hook you up.) from honda to come in, actual work maybee 2 days out and back in running.

your gonna need a 1 5/8" socket and a big ass breaker bar.
