I am buying some new tires... Decided on the Yokohama H4s as my new set of tires. What I wanted to know is the following: what size tire can I put on my stock rims? I know the stock size is 205/55R16, can I go with something wider?

Thanks to anyone who responds... I plan on buying them tomorrow, so I need to make a quick decision soon.

Hey

225/55/16's are 25.7" in diameter, and 8.9" in width

(16*25.4) + (2*225*.55)) = 653.9mm --> 25.74 inches.

The stock 205/55/16's are 24.9" in diameter, and 8.1" in width.

(16*25.4) + (2*(205*.55)) = 631.9mm -->24.87 inches

So basically you could have problems with the overall diameter being too large (.8 inch larger than factory)
I have 225/40/18 which are 25.1 inches in diameter and the same width as the tires you want to get and I have no problems with rubbing. I'm also lowered about 2 inches

You might want to try 225/50/16's

24.86 inches in diameter and 8.9 inches in width. These are almost identical to the factory diameter. Might be a little less comfy though with the lower profile.
