Tinted Tail Lights

I tinted the tails on my 97 CL. I used tinting spray a bought at a hobbie shop. The thing was i did this from the outside, because it was to complicated to open up the light it self.

It looks great, because my tails are tinted, my liceance plate cover, and rear window. So its a nice look.

The problem is if you look closely with in a foot, you can see "alligator skin", its not to smooth.

Can I solve this by using clear coat or do i need somethign else.

Probably b/c the tails aren't a smooth surface. Almost similar to the problems people have with the tint on the dots on the rear window......

Actually i heard the opposite. It needs to be a rough surface so that the paint has something to stick too. But i see how that would be a problem with tint film

From what I remember, it's a good idea to heat up the paint before you paint. I watched my friend do it. And no orange peel looking surface.

hmmmmmmmmm, my paint was pretty cold when I did it.

I will most likely leave it alone, I did a few coats of clear coat and it doesn't look to bad.

Its just that one light is a little bit more bumpy looking than the other from up close.

dont remember exactly what the paint is called. Its at any hobby store in the paint section. It should say something like black window tint, or black transparent.

I just put it on in a couple of coats. I tried to roughen up the surface a little with a brush.
