ticking noise at high speed

My 97 CL has a ticking noise from the passenger side engine when it gets to 50~60mph at the 5th gear. Noise only comes on when you push the gas at this high speed. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Valves? But not too sure. How many miles do you have?

I got 80K on it. Just done valve clearance job last year. It has been quiet for a while.

could be the cat heat shield.. or could be alittle low on oil, which would also make your valves tap a little.

If it were a valve, you would here it at idle... or at a given rpm. Is there anything wrappeed around you axels? Maybe when you get to that speed, the centripital force is strong enough to make it (debree) slap against the susoension. Like a peice of wire...or a torne boot.

If this started after an exhaust install then the piping may be loose or hitting against a heat shield under the car.

The ticking sound is the bomb hooked up to your speedometer. It engages when you first hit 55mph. As long as you keep your speed above 55mph the bomb will not blow. Try to find an airport runway or something to drive around in circles on while you try to find the bomb.

you must have just watched that on TV or something. one of the most far-fetched movies ever. the concept is possible but the stunts are bullshit.
