keep in mind, whatever you get will move away from the yellow spectrum (toward the blue) just a bit over time. i have 4.3, and they seemed a bit yellow @ first, but matured into a perfectly pure white (even in daylight).
considering that projectors have quite a bit to do with color, i'd go 5K if you aren't going to bother with a retro, and have a pure white and good output in mind.
i like apexcone for pnp, lifetime warranty and battery harness available, decent price, and i've seen many people happy with them over time. i've been running their ddm kit for some time, and it's worth every penny.
wattage is another question with pnps, though; some prefer 35w, some like 55w, but they are considerably more expensive.

so they showed up today. plugged em in and the fired up first try. so i installed them and they worked great tonight. i do have to readjust the lights though.

im going to buy some kaixen HID's soon but i have a few questions that i cant find the answers to. did any of you guys get battery relays? also did any of you guys have to replace some 15A headlight fuse with a 20A or even 30A fuse because the 15A kept blowing? i know you are never supposto over-fuse electrical circuits because it can melt wires and cause fires. i also know that once the HID's have started they are actually using less power than halogen but upon starting the HID's there is a big spike in power. from what i understand if i get a battery relay i could replace this headlight fuse with a 20A or 30A because now the headlight circuit is only switching on and off the lights, and the power for the lights is now going through the thicker wires on the relay, so i dont have to worry about melting wires on the over-fused headlight circuit. am i correct in saying this?

^yes HIDs pull a lot of power at start up (around 15-20 amps) then drop to around 4-6. obviously varies from kit to kit.

The Kaixen kit I had was used, and one of the bulbs blew. So I bought the Xentec which was cheaper and available in 5000k. That blew a ballast when the alarm went off.
The Kaixen kit was much better overall. The Xentec required connecting leads from the ballast to an adapter for the headlight relay. It's not hard, but it took some time getting those "pins" to make contact with the relay. I also had one come loose at one point.

i had an old pair of 10k that i bought from ebay that have lasted me 3 cars and i put them to use to my cl but now i bought another pair and swamped them out. so what i did is that i got my old 10k and made them my foglights so i got top and bottom now.

Just got my 10000k bulbs in today... It's about time... I first ordered the kit like 1-2 months ago, but they sent me 9004's instead of 9006's. So they sent an extra set of ballasts, and now I finally got around to ordering the new set... Fixing my blackhouse screw up tomorrow, and probably throwing some plastix on there, then the 10000k's go in...

8ks are great man, but just make sure your HIDs aren't cheap haha. I got mine as a hookup from my buddy 
so i saved money. be ready to spend at least a 100 or more!

There's a car around my area that has an 8000k kit and it's very blue. I don't know how he doesn't get pulled over. I still think 5000k-6000k has that nice tint of blue and doesn't compromise output.

I have 6000K on both vehicles and it's even a little too blue for me, 8 & 10K are just too blue and kill the light output, I don't recommend anyone go over 6000K but it all depends on what you want, 6000K is a nice mix, i would never try going above it, but that's me, we all know my tastes are picky to begin with

where did you mount your ballasts for the 3.0 engine? there isnt much space. Im getting mine (ebay) soon. suprisingly the ones i had on my old car that i bought off of ebay were great and didnt have any issues whatsoever. 80 bucks used wisely. lol

6k is the absolute highest kelvin I'd go with...remember all hid's have a 'break in time' of around 100 hours where the bulbs colorshift another 1k or so....so when you buy 6k's after awhile they eventually become 7k's, etc. And nothing wrong with super cheapass ebay kits...as long as they come with some sort of warranty. Still have my 80 dollar ones off ebay after over a year and no problems yet...just some mild flickering but that's only because I dont have a fused relay system...no biggie.

i was pissed when i first got my 4300s, because they even had more yellow overtones than blue (was going for pure, pure white)
btw, those are silverstars looking like rusty piss in the fogs (even next to the 'yellowish' brandy new 4300s)
day 1:
but this is what they 'matured' to after break-in, so i ended up very happy, (and actually glad i didn't go to even 5K).
after break-in:
my advice to anyone who wants that pure hid white is go 4300, and be patient
as was said earlier, 5 and 6K, strangely enough, to me also look the nearly the same as each other.
if you like a blue tint, i'd probably go with 5K just to get a bit more output.
