6000k output is great IMO, doesn't beat projectors but it's much better than stock that's for sure. Anything higher than 6000k and it starts to become more difficult to see. search the threads there has been a few on HID's and as far as install goes it's fairly simple the only thing that's gonna take a while is finding out where to mount the ballast if you have a 3.0

4300 is oem. my first set was 5k which was super white... and now i have 4300... they are about the same. I don't like the blue look which starts to get more blue as u move higher than 5k

I have 6000K on my projectors on the CL, and a 6000K pnp kit on my 4runner, and I love the coloring, but I would not recommend going above it. Once my bulbs burn out on the projectors I may go up to 5000 or 4300, but I don't use my headlights enough for that to ever happen. Here area couple pics of my 6000K, I love the color, just a hint of blue, and very bright white.

i went 10k and its really blue. bright but very blue. i like it, its not for everyone though. they are very bright and the cutoff is ok. i figured out projectors are not a weekend project and you will most likely need to buy another pair of headlights to even attempt it. if you do want to try i have a pretty good connection on the projector pieces from s2k, tsx, and few others that "may" fit

i have 4300, they are pretty bright and dont attract too much attention. When i had them in the stock housing there were a lot of hot spots. now with projectors it spreads the light way more evenly.

Do projectors only if you're handy, have money, patience, and an extra set of headlamps.
Otherwise just get the 6000k plug 'n play kits from either eBay or www.mobilehid.com That's where I got mine from.
^Pretty obvious which ones my car.

I have 5000K HIDs, previously had 6000K. The output is nearly the same, though I like the color of the 5000K better. 6000K was a bit too blue for my tastes, and I didn't want to get hassled by the local 5-0.
The 6000K kit I had was more expensive, but it seemed to scatter the light more. Overall, the cheaper 5000K kit was a better value.

I bought mine off of ebay, and got shipped 9004 bulbs. When I contacted the company about sending me the right bulbs, they sent me another set of ballasts with no bulbs... So now I have 2 sets of ballasts and no bulbs that will fit the car... I'm trying to find some money to get the right bulbs, but I'm a poor college student...
On another note, any thoughts on HID's for both high and low beams? I mean, I have 2 sets of ballasts, and they're plug and play, so it wouldn't be that much different to buy another set of bulbs... Any thoughts from anyone? I was looking at doing what Blind did with the 10000ks.

get a pair of 6000k cause they look way better than higher kelvin hid's like 10000k, 12000k or those ugly ass 20000k kits. 4300k & 5000k look cool 2 but if u want that euro look without being ricey than 6000k is deff the way to go.

I have 3k's on my CL but then again I have yellow tint on my headlights lol. I love mine, pretty unique with great light output but also attracts unwanted police attention sometimes, depending where I go and how bored the police are lol

keep in mind, whatever you get will move away from the yellow spectrum (toward the blue) just a bit over time. i have 4.3, and they seemed a bit yellow @ first, but matured into a perfectly pure white (even in daylight).
considering that projectors have quite a bit to do with color, i'd go 5K if you aren't going to bother with a retro, and have a pure white and good output in mind.
i like apexcone for pnp, lifetime warranty and battery harness available, decent price, and i've seen many people happy with them over time. i've been running their ddm kit for some time, and it's worth every penny.
wattage is another question with pnps, though; some prefer 35w, some like 55w, but they are considerably more expensive.
mattastick:
i wouldn't bother with highbeams, as hids need time to warm up, and most h/b duty is quick on/off stuff (which is kind of abusive to the system and certainly compromises their practical effectiveness) -- just get a good set of halos for the highs so you have that distance sight available immediately when you need it.

I use 5000k, had 6000k on the other car and at night in the rain I was screwed. The farther you get from that yellow 3000k, the worse the output is. The 5000k's in the CL are tolerable in the rain, but I sort of wish I picked up 4300k instead. I may pick up some fogs and put in 3000k's but I currently have more pressing matters to deal with as I have tied up my garage with a hell of a project.

i use high beams if i have trouble seeing at night or any other conditions. i never really considered hid's as rice but............... i bought the HID's and always loved the bright blue the imports used. so rice or not i like it because its stands out. only my 2 cents.

lol, i just bought a set of 4300k 9006 conversions off ebay for 65 bucks.
i had a silverstar ultra blow on the way home. they only sell em up here in pairs @ 55 +tax so for the extra 5 bucks i'll give em a shot.
