I just replaced my 9006 PIAA super whites with sylvania regulars... I don't even know what I bought one went out one day then I switched to the stock bulbs I had... the other side blew the next night... then last night for valentines day needed to drive so I went to autozone and picked up some 7.99 syvania regulars... brighter than stock but damn they suck compare to the PIAA super whites with the hi to low conversion.

Now, if your housing cannot dissipate the higher heat, then you might melt something inside the housing but that is doubtful as well.

Re: Sylvania Silverstars or something...those good bulbs?
One of my low-beam Silver Stars just blew up.. they say don't handle them with bare fingers, but I can see a blob of metal where the filament started to melt. Filament's broken after four months. I may go with Raybrig or Nokya next time provided I can find some that match the colour temperature of the hi-beam Silver Stars.

I've replaced my converted generic 9005s to Wagner Tru-Views, and the're sweet. They're not really blue, just alot brighter, and hid purplish white than stock. They've only been in for a month and a half, but no problems so far. The store I got them from had 2 for 1 mail-in rebates too - $21 for the pair. I'd highly reccomend 'em.

NO time for HID's huh? They take like 30 mins of install...not that much time! And for a WHOLE lot better!
Lots more output....lasts longer...etc.
Hyper whites typically last 350 hours....HID's last 2-3000 hours....eventually you'll be even between the money spent on buying bulbs and HID's...

good thing is: silverstars have white output, as opposed to the yellow of our stocks...
plus, sylvannia has a pretty good warranty...mine blew after 6 months and canadian tire (vancouver) replaced them for me in 15 min...
apparently, these silverstars are covered by a 1 year warranty, which PIAA blubs doesn't offeR??

How often do you drive with the lights on??? The reason I'm asking is because I was thinking about getting some Stage II's. The only thing is that I drive a lot at night. Probably like 2-3 hours at times. Anyway have you had any problems with the bulbs? Any melting???

We should have a thread in the gallery section showing all the different bulbs. When I get some new ones (haven't decided what brand), I'll post some pics of before and after.

Ok, I've found not a Super White but a Platinum Super White 9006 on the PIAA website.. does anybody know the difference between the Star White and the Platinum Super White? They're the same colour temperature, same wattage, same price.. on the website there's just gibberish; fancy sounding words for their technologies.

The PIAA Xtreme White Plus 9006 is suppose to be 4000K, the Platinum Super White is 3800K and Star White is probably less. The Sylvania Silver Star is supposed to be 4000K as well.
I just bought some Wagner Britelite Xenon bulbs today at my local NAPA. They are supposed to be 4000K as well and only cost me $25 out the door for the pair. The guy said that the Silver Stars are brighter, but they cost like double. They are probably the better buy than the PIAAs which are the most expensive. For reference, the stock CL bulbs are like 3200K, so the Wagners should be a noticeable improvement. I'll post some pics after I install them in the gallery section.

I think in Calgary, Alberta those Wagners and Silver Stars were comparatively priced. I paid $25 per bulb for the Silver Stars, the Honda performance place wanted $120 for all PIAA's (can you say EBAY). Silver Stars have a one year over the counter warranty, Partsource replaced my blown bulb on the spot, which still doesn't make it right that they blow up after three months.

Hmm...might have to check those out whenever there is a deal going on. But after my Wagners go out.
My Wagners only costed about $11 per bulb w/o tax and they are supposed to last as long as OEM (which means they'll be around for a while). They are a little brighter and whiter than OEMs, but not as bright as those PIAAs or Silverstars. Another cool thing about these bulbs is that they are made in Germany.
The stock bulbs are Stanleys and they had some black marking on the bulb itself that looked like it came from a Sharpie pen. The bulbs still work, but wonder what that is?
