Swapping 4 banger to 6 cylinder?

I've currently got a 2.3 manual tranny...been looking for some more torque and a hell of a lot more horsepower. I just submitted a request to a couple junkyards for a 1997 Accord V6 engine. Think its possible? Should I or should I not? Or should I just upgade to a turbo? Give me some input guys

I say go for turbo....V6 you are gonna get stuck with auto tranny....which take power from the engine....

Wow man thats a really hard swap to do. You are really better off putting an h22a (prelude motor DOHC 200 HP VTEC). To do a j30a swap into a 4 cylinder CL you would have to change all your engine monuts get rid of your manual tranny and all its parts clutch pressure plate pedal assembly, center console and so many more things. If you swaped an h22a in instead it bolts right in and you can even use the same transmission if you wanted too. You get a 200 DOHC vtec engine with tons of aftermarket parts available for it.
In other words swaping for j30a is almost impossible and pointless when you can just get an h22.

The only tranny that fits a j30a (v6 accord and CL engine) is the automatic for the j30a. The manual tranny in your car right now will NOT fit a j30a. Sorry man

Finding a prelude engine is one of these easiest things you can do. 100's of people have done it accords which basically the chasis as our cars. A few have done it in CL's and I soon will too. A complete prelude swap will run you around $2,500 and that with the complete engine a prelude tranny and an ECU. You can even get a prelude engine from japan JDM (japanese domestic market). A jdm engine will be even better since they have less emsission laws and produce even more power.

Tough job

Probably a nightmare of a job. I think the 4 cyl has the tranny situated on the pass side while the 6 has the trans on the driver side. Mixing the two could be a challenge. Am I correct that the trans on a 2.3 is on the pass side? I'm not really sure, but I presume this since all of my 4 cyl Hondas were this way
Go with a Prelude motor on steroids.

kinda funny how one person is wanting a 3.x cl.. and someone with a 3.x is wanting a manual tranny..ie looking for a 2.x.. anyone else notice that? hehe.. btw, i'll be around 350-400hp with turbo and around 600hp with shot.. easy to do.. i can pretty much built a replica of my motor or an h22a with any type of parts you want in it within a month now.. and i have hookups on machinist work since i get stuff done so often through the same person
