just a question of who had suspension problems after dropping their car. bushings...control arms...etc. I know why it happens just wondering what the rate of incidences are.
i actually had problems INSTALLING them. my mechanic told me my rear lower control arms were super fucked up, so he replaced it all for me. Did it for pretty cheap too cuz it's a family friend, but other body shops would well charge hundreds on top of hundreds for me.
other than that, my ride is great, lowered on tein basics. i want to upgrade some day, but for now they are perfect. if you're too low in the front, i get a lot of tire rub. i didn't like that so i just rose it for better handling.

Haven't really had any suspension problems, but I have had problems because I'm lowered. Getting on/off trailers for example.
I do have to replace my bushings because the cl's super squeaky and I have a busted bushing on my control arm, but I would have to replace those eventually regardless of whether or not I had coilovers.

I asked because, I've lowered a car in the past and had no problems. It was a pita to install on this car, had to replace the rear lower strut mounts.
My big issue is noise that, if anything it's embarrassing. Hard to describe...like rubber squeaking, mostly when I go from the street up a curtain to the parking lot. So my entrance to any store, I've got to creep in, or else my car sounds like a pos.
I'm contemplating bringing the car to Honda, since there's a 2nd gen CL owner there, that has been cool in the past.. too bad he doesn't come on here, his car is pretty sweet. I've brought the car to two mechanics and they couldn't find it, which I think is complete bs, since the noise is so loud. I didn't have enough money, but I got my tax refund!

well, I'm taking it in to Honda tomorrow, to check the squeaks. It's a squeak, but a rubbery sounding squeak. In my head, it sounds like rubber being put under pressure and it moving just enough to make this nasty noise. The guy at Honda(the 2nd gen CL-s owner) says he suspects upper ball joint or a bushing, but really wont be able to tell till they take it in. So hopefully I'll know pretty soon
I know my squeaking is bushing or balljoint related, however Honda didn't even want to try to fix it/find it. They the only way to fix it is to put the stock springs back on, sooo....guess I'll be installing the bushings myself since this is the second time honda said something could'nt be done that could have. They did say the car is safe though, so I have some time to figure everything out.

I just recently lowered my car and had huge problems with the rear lower strut bolts. Both left and right struts had a seized bolt. It took a grinder and air hammer to get them out. One of them actually rusted to the inside of the bushing. That meant taking the trailing arm off and over to a friends shop to use their press. I didn't plan on replacing the struts, but I had to grind the nut off each one. Instead of replacing the nuts, I just bought some new KYB's.
If I would have searched and knew this problem was so common, I would have gladly taken it to a mechanic for the install. Just glancing up under the car, it looked so easy.

first thing that happened to me when i lowered my car was the bushings!! sucks hearing that squeaking sound. it was gone for about a year and now it's back
anyone have an idea how much labor going to be to have them replaced? i'm going to take my car to the shop tomorrow but i'd like to get an idea before i take it in

if you have the money then just take it to a mechanic to have them replaced. believe me no matter who mechanicaly sound you are there will be a few bushing which you will not be able to install without a lot of hard though and hard work.
between by coil and master bushing set took me over 11 hours. lol

I also have to replace the control arm. Correct me if im wrong but if i go with the Poly Bush Kit would i just have to replace the CT bushing?
If so i figure 100 plus around 300 labor is pretty good. Worth the money for sure. Just for one control arm alone it runs 150 oem all the way though.

The problem isn't that they seize, it's that Acura welds that nut on. Technically anyone that changes their springs or struts in the rear for the first time will have to grind it off. Both of my bolts also were stuck in the bushing as well, I cut out the bushings and put new ones in.
I think most of these problems are found on cars in cold, snowy climates. My car spent most of it's life in Cincinnati, OH.
Ok so i've been lowered for 3 years now..
Messed up my:
Rear Upper control Arm (left side only)
Blew both Axles (more than once)
Both my wheel hubs need replacing which caused some really funky tire wear..
Oh and when i killed that kitten with my car, it messed up my car lot higher than it wouldve been if i was 4x4 hahahaha..
and if your car's lowered it makes EVERYTHING harder.... like finding jacks that fit, finding shops that want to work on your car, going through parking lots.. its a long term commitment.. lol
