Stupid question - you guys use gallons or US gallons when calculating milage?

I've run a couple tanks of fuel thru my "new" CL and i'm trying to figure out of my gas milage is in line with the rest of your guys.

I'm in Canada, home of the retarded meteric system, so I have to convert everything over to imperial to figure it out. So, so I convert liters to Gallons or US gallons to figure out my milage? US gallons is like 16mpg and Gallons is almost 20, so i'm hoping regular gallons are the standard for fuel, because 16 is almost concerning.

I'm not sure what the difference between gallons and US gallons are but 16 sounds low. Do you have an automatic or a 5spd?

take however many kilometers per liter and multiply by 2.35 that should get you close to miles per gallon

Ouch.. it is 16 mpg then. Maybe that egr problem really is a concern. Guess i'll change plugs 1st and see whats up.

My latest top up I had 357 kilometers on the clock and filled 52 liters = 6.885 kms per liter * 2.35 = 16.179 mpg !

Eh, buddy..wake up call. The metric system is used through out the world. United States uses the English system. Furthermore, as of 2006 only one country, the United States, had not completed finished the changeover

The modern metric system (modern meaning post-1960) is now widely used throughout the world and is called the International System of Units.

It's only a matter if time before US will change to metric. Maybe in about 20 years or so, maybe less.

um, if your check engine light is on, and your egr port is clogged, then you will get kinda crap mileage. And call Acura to see if your car qualifies for the extended warrenty for the egr port. It's something i suggest everyone in 1st gen does.

)

Your milage is definatly off. I can get 520-540 kilometer with a full tank, but that's driving granny like.

Meh. I'm from the UK and grew up on the imperial standard. I say screw metric.

Anyhow, I called about the egr recal and the guy at the Acura dealer was less than helpful, but said it was only covered to 130k kms - maybe we get screwed a bit up here in Canada? I thought 97s in the US got 150k miles on the recall extesion? Anyhow, I emailed Acura Canada to see what they say. If I really don't qualify I'm just going to do it myself.

^ See the good thing about the metric system is that everyting is divisible by 10 while here we have some weird shit. i mean look at it this way 1000 meters is a kilometer while 5280 feet or 1760 yards is one mile. Kinda makes you wonder who set the distances and wether whoever did it just said "meh, thats good enough for a mile."

Oh and tools are soo much nicer to use in mm. when you get like 13/32 and 15/32 its like WTF. I rather look at something and see the numbers going up where they are in series... 10,11,12,13,14,15...

Maybe but probably not... English system is useful in some respects. It is usually easier to express desired quantities that we come across in everday life (for example, I say its a foot long, you say its... 0.3408 meters... or 34.08 cm... which is easier)

In engineering, obviously metric makes more sense... conversions are much easier

Remember when Congress passed the Metric Conversion Act of 1975?

Packaging started displaying metric weights & volumes next to the Standard weight & volumes. It's now 30 years later and all we've got to show for it is the 2 liter soda pop bottle!

Americans will convert only if we're forced and dragged kicking and screaming into it. They can have my Standard ruler when they pry it from my dead cold fingers.

Sorry if that came off like a rant. I was just making the point of how stubborn and set in our ways Americans are. The "ruler and the dead cold fingers" was just to emphasize that point. (I actually still have my metric tri-ruler from my mechanical drawing days). I believe the metric system is simpler because it's base 10 like our numeric system, but I also believe the US is not going to convert in the foreseeable future.
