It almost looked like they took it to a chop shop. They completely smaashed the front end, the rear and front windows exploded out of it, my center concole was in pieces, the sunroof was taken out the trunk was left in shambles. Oh God, I think I'm gonna cry

Our cars aren't that hard to steal...anyway, thats awful that it happened to you when you hadn't paid for your insurance. Doesn't sound like things are going to work out the way anyone would like them too, I guess chalk it up to a learning experience

Really sorry to hear about your car. The cops had no leads on the bastards?
Isn't insurance typically a requirement if you still owe a lender to keep things like this from happening?

It sounds like it never was stolen in the first place.....more like a voluntary repossession.
The last bank I worked at, we repoed a girls CL 3 times....2 of those times she voluntarily turned over the keys. The 3rd time a repo man snatched it.
Each time she would get 10 days to catch up on what she owed or else we could sell it to the highest bidder.
She would end up borrowing the money she owed from her parents each time.
$250 each time added to her loan in repo fees....plus a repo on your credit record is bad.

If u read the messages he let it lapse. The lender can't force u to continue with full coverage on a car after they give u the loan. In theory you can go buy a brand new car get full coverage, then decide to cancell the insurance or downgrade to liability. The lender will eventually find out the status of ur insurance. They have two choices repo the car because there is no coverage on it, or let you continue to pay loan on the car and hope nutting happens to it. The reason Y they might not repo it is that they would have to pay for the cost of picking up the car, transporting it, and then try to sell it. After selling it, they can only force you to pay for the difference (generally) or u get the difference. That is what My friend did, it of course kinda messes up ur credit doing this. That might be a reason Y they chose not to repo it, they lose money. The bank don't want the car at all no matter how nice it is, they want the $$ plus interest because it a savings account holder or checking account holders $$ not theirs.

I did read her whole message but never considered that the full coverage was anything but mandatory, i.e. the lender would be effectively cc:ed on any issues involving a lapse her coverage. Good to know either way.

Haha. No cops had no leads on anything 16 G WAS what I owed, now it's 19 G Go figure. The finance co. doesn't want it because there is to much damage to it. And I did replace it with an American made Beretta. No one wants them.
