i was cruising down my street in my 97 auto cl when one of my friend pulled up next to me wit his 01 solara (4 banger auto wit just a drop in intake)....he always wanted to race me ever since he got his ride....well today i felt like goin a lil fast...so we took off but he got me in the beginnin but i gained lead...i won n sheit by a car length

our 4 cyl put out 145/150 for 2.3 and the solar makes 135 and the same torque as the cls. so winning would not be a problem.

 

yes i agree a 2.3 would win, but he has a 97 so if he had a 4 cyl he'd have a 2.2 non vtec with an auto. nice car and all but they're slower than the 2.3... :P

 

the 2.2 are vtec 147 torque and 145 hp. the 2.3 are 152 torque and 150 hp. So make sure you double check your stuff before you post. btw: you are right, any mt 2.3 would be my mt 2.2 all day long

WRONG! 2.2 SOHC VTEC 145hp 147tq and depending upon what f23 u have ur 2.3 could actually be slower due to emissions equip. 98+ cl is only avail as premium so base 2.2s have a very minor weight advantage. 2.2 and 2.3cl are equals. anyone who thinks the .1 more displacent means they can smoke a 94-97 ex accord or 2.2 cl needs to be smacked upside the head.

 

 

my 2.2 cl is stick and i raced a friend in a solara, im not sure if his was 4 or 6 cyl, it was a good race but i spanked him! Also .1 of a liter can make a difference but a good driver will always make more of a difference than .1

Well excuse me. Holy shit you people don't have to jump down my throat. I was under the impression that the 97 wasn't a vtec. Thought I read that some place. You could have just said, I was wrong and to look into my facts. You don't have to make it personal by saying I don't know "shit about nothing" and calling me stupid. ASSUMING that the 97 didn't have a vtec, because that's what I was falsely assuming, then you have to admit that he wouldn't beat an 01 solara. I’m not saying the vtec makes that much of a difference but I think he would loose. There is no way to prove that opinion wrong or right it's just an opinion. So I apologize for my ignorance. And I never claimed that a .1 liter difference would make a HUGE difference. What I was saying was that a non-vtec with a 2.2 wouldn’t beat a vtec 2.3 cl or a solara. But the 97 2.2 is a vtec I know that now! So that point is irrelevant. I don’t know why I’m trying to defend myself. It’s obvious that you guys think that I know nothing about cars, and that’s fine because I know that I do. Can I help it that I read false information? you were probably thinking of the 2.2 non vtec that comes in 94-97 lx accords. It has 130hp and not sure about the torque.

I think I do more than enough to help folks out when they post here, as I have learned a hell of a lot in my 2 years of being here. Do a search and check some of the posts I have contributed to. I can say that well over 90% of my posts are positive and helpful, the other 10 are funny and bashing. Take nothing I say personal, and you'll do just fine. I pull peoples legs from time to time, but I also know where to draw the line.

I say no more on this subject, I do hope that you open your mind before you guys start passing judegement on folks who have been here for a lengthy amount of time and accumulated a substantial amount of postings to this website. I shouldn't even listen nor respond to anyone with just 8 posts anyways, unless it's to tell you to do a search.

And before you open your mouth and type something else trying to bash or negate someones post, whether it be funny or not, do your homework on the person, because I guarantee to you that there are far worse people to deal with here than I will ever be.
