Police - To Serve (tickets) and Protect (their own interests)


I hate that police are almost never around when someone is getting robbed, raped, shot or killed, yet they are almost always around to enforce things like traffic, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, drug laws, etc. Yes they do serve a purpose, but so much of the time they seem to be attempting to generate revenue, as opposed to protecting the safety and well-being of the public.

We still didn't hear about the turbo setup or see vids/pics?

BTW although the newest gen crown vic has the 4.6L 240hp/275tq V8, it also weighs 4000lbs and has a crappy 4AT, netting the 1/4 in about 16 seconds. Then again the berries always own, no matter how fast the interceptor is...

I remember a few years ago the police department in my area was losing a ton of money because they weren't writing enough tickets. And it wasn't because they were lazy or lenient, ppl around here were just driving better. So in order to fix the problem, cops started pulling ppl over for the dumbest shit just so they could write a ticket.

e. bruns -- had to be seized, but i can imagine those guys actually getting good use of it -- you know what it's like over there right next to e-town on 18, nuts doing triple the limit in the craziest shit. silver 04-05 with a nasty rumble, and galaxy of flashing pullover LEDs.
the exhaust makes me curious as to what else it's got going on under there.

I haven't looked into at all, but here's a relevant experience.
I was driving back down to school in Southern Maryland, doing almost 90.
The whole pack of cars was way behind me, and I saw some headlights quickly catching up to me.
I knew it was either a car trying to race, or a cop trying to pull me over.
As it got closer, I didn't recognize it as cop headlights.
Already doing ~90, I wasn't about to try to race some car.
As I got into the right lane, the car started pacing me.
I just kept on my way, keeping up my speed, and then the car flew by me all of the sudden.
I was like holy shit, that thing is fast. Then it gets into a new lane for pulling a U-turn, and it's a new, pimped out Mustang.
I see the rear tag, and it's Police plates!
They have this nutted out Mustang trying to race people!
I was lucky, as I have expired tags. I've actually been tailed by a few undercover and marked cars since this, and they've all let off after a few miles. I'm guessing it's too much paperwork and not enough payoff.

nope. i got that ticket and 81 in a 60 with a passenger w/o my 6 months a month after, went to court and since the second one was already paid(moms fault, would have taken it to court), they let me defer it. the kid i was racing already had two tickets and a warrant for running, the cop was retarded and didnt get us on radar since he was already pulling out to get a van going ten over, we didnt see him behind us, then did, tried to run, negligent driving in the 2nd degree, he got his dropped, i got mine deferred. all because the cop didnt write down the speed. just said we were exceeding the speed limit.

its a lot easier to bail yourself out of tickets than you think, you just have to be smart and suck up to the judge. they almost always say what should i do, you need to know. driving courses, parole, deference, etc.

State Troopers have the Hemis here in CO, they used to have Camaro SS's. The rich bitch skiing towns like Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen actually have Range and Land Rovers! There is also a traffic unit cop in Wheat Ridge (burb of Denver) that has an undercover last gen s/c grand prix with nos, rice wing spolier, fart cans, custom paint covered in decals and stickers.
I was driving down the blvd (wadsworth) awhile back and I see him coming from behind and driving a bit faster than everyone else...He gets up beside me and the ricer alert goes off so I figure I will introduce him to the CL. Speed limit was 40, we both drop it from 40-60 and I was walking him (b/c even S/C most of us know those cars just aren't that great). As he realizes he isn't winning, he kicks the NOS and jets past me with flames bursting out the exhaust. So I'm like WTF and he is turning at the next light so I follow him, and he drives right to the police station...I follow him in and pull in a parking spot beside him and we both get out, first thing he says is "You know I'm a cop right?", I reply "well I do now". He tells me how street racing is illegal and I tell him "yes it is and we are both guilty of that aren't we?" I also reminded him how nos is illegal as well lol. We talked about the cars for a sec and I was surprised he was running S/C PLUS 75 shot, he said he had no problems for 8k so far. Weird thing was he had chose nos first over HBP. He was cool and said since he wasn't being completely legal himself that he wasn't going to press the issue. He just said "be careful out there and don't race, you never know who you will run in to." Point taken!
