scraping with sportlines and paint ?
So, i just lowered my car with sportlines, agx's and ingalls. I love the ride but i scrape all over the place. It only scrapes on the bottom of my front bumper (which is unpainted 2.2 97' style). So basically my question is....if i paint bumpers/skirts will the paint noticeably scrape off the front as well as the bottom.
Do anyone else have the same problem cuz i'm wondering if the roads are just too shitty to drive or maybe i just suck at driving..... its one or the other
By the way its columbus and chillicothe ohio roads

I have the the same setup as you, plus a lip kit. Im about ~3" off the ground and I only scape on REALLY steep driveways. Go up and down driveways, speed bumps at an angle my friend.
i'd say paint the skirts, they look much better, when I had it painted and scraped, the bottom part was really scratched up but you couldnt see it unless you were under the car

first off.....congrats on becoming a mod
yeah the angle thing works real well but their are a couple spots on the columbus highways that I scrape reguardless what i do (coming on and off bridges and such). i know your in bay area but do you have any advise for the wintertime cuz i'm wondering if my car is going to become a snow plow. I thought of buying pro-kits and switching around Dec. and i was wondering if i would have to realign my car each time i switch?
so the paint doesn't flake after scraping because that what i'm mainly worried about

As for the snow, your screwed, lol, my brother had his car lowered during the winter in the snow, it was a bitch to get out when he was stuck during the snow warnings and emergencies but he was fine driving.

wow the roads are that steep that you scrap comming off bridges? damn You would have to realign the car every time you change the ride height. You could also get a set of coilovers so you can slam it in the summer and raise it in the winter.
Im not sure what you mean my the paint "flaking" when you scape, the paint gets scratched up and you can see the scuffs

potholes....not really. typically i just try to miss them but if I do hit one, it typically doesn't scrape
i only scrape when theres a change in height in the road......highways for example. Sometimes it will be slightly raised at the beginning and end of a bridge. Typically going up is fine but coming down/off the bridge it slightly scrapes (only the body scrapes, i've never hit the internals or pipes under my car) I also have an HKS supper dragger exhaust which is quite large and i've never scraped it, only the front bumper scrapes.
bkmc24 - is your car lowered?? and how are the roads in delaware
i scrape on 670 and the 70/71 split slightly

I basically have the same drop on my 2.2 with the H&R race springs. I find that I can avoid almost all scraping of my front bumper if I drive carefully. I don't think I would paint the front bumper or get a lip kit with this set of springs because some scraping is bound to happen. In terms of driving in winter snow conditions, the ride height is not something you should be too concerned about. I drove everyday during the past winter in Calgary, Canada and there was large amounts of snow to drive through. The type of tire you are driving on would have more of an influence on where you would get stuck. As long as you don't high-center your car on a large amount of snow, driving at that ride height should not be a cause for concern. Winter tires are your best friend when driving during the winter months.
