Run or Buy
I am still continuing the search for a first car for my son, I have run across a 1999 cl 3.0 with 180000 miles on it,I looked at it today, the body is fairly straight and the interior is in great condition, no rips whatsoever in the seats, it is a 2 owner car fax that shows no maintenance history whatsoever, all the fluids including the trans fluid are clean , the car runs and shifts ok, yea I know the rep about the Acura transmissions, I would also assume the timing belt was done even though I have no proof otherwise, only issues are front brakes, tires look worn and
" hard ", this is where the issue comes in at, broker selling the car informed me that the vehicle had a lot of front end
" noise " , not sure if it is just the tires or more serious issues, I looked underneath, the cv boots are clean, just the sway bar bushings looked dried out, He is asking 2600 for the vehicle, any opinions , also about the front end, any known parts that seem to always need replacing, should I run or buy ??

CL in lawnmower status
i wouldn't get into a high mileage 3.0, sure it may be good right now, but with the way kids treat their first cars (me included) you don't want him driving one with a glass tranny and high miles like that. not to mention whatever else is wrong with that from what you mentioned
if you really want to get him a CL, then get him a 2.x 5spd, they are great cars, and certainly can take some abuse
goodluck with your decision

Burning Brakes
iTrader: (1)
when I got mine it was for my then 15 year old son so he would have something to drive (wasn't going to give it to him right away but had to have two vehicles since two people with license in the house) when he got 16 but he has since went to live with his mother because he didn't like my rules so now I am starting to fix it up the way I want to instead of the way he wanted. Mine had had the transmission rebuilt 15000 miles before I got it and also had the engine reworked from the receipts and so far I have not had any major problems out of it, but if the trans fails again I am wanting to put a 6 speed from a cl-s in it
