Resurfacing rotor on 3.0

when i brake at around 40~60 mph on the highway, the steering wheels shakes.....i believe this is the result of the unbalanced rotor, am i correct?

is it better to resurface the factory rotor or to get an aftermarket one? something like the brembo crossed drilled ones they have one ebay?

also, how much would it cost to resurface the factory rotor? btw, this is for the front...

thanx in advance

I would highly recommend getting new rotors. Especially if you're doing it yourself.

Unless the rotor is turned while on the car, it will never be truly flush, nor will the pads press completely against the whole rotor.

The '97s are a bitch to change, so resurfacing them may be an acceptable option.

I definitely recommend rotor changes on the '98-'99 models. The rotors are cheap ($$$) enough (unless your getting Brembos or the such).

EDIT: If you're doing it yourself, and want to remove the front rotors, you'll need a tool like this: http://murtaughs.tripod.com/murtaughs/

dustbuster4: have you tried using this yourself? and did it work as good as it should?

also, if i get new rotors (around $135), do you know how much will the labor be if i get a shop to do it for me?

thanx a bunch

I used it on my wife's accord, and it worked great! Saved several hours on the job.

I'm not sure what the labor-cost will be as I've not had a shop do my breaks.

Make sure that you get zinc plated rotors (to reduce the rusting). It would be a shame to spend all that time/money on cross-drilled/slotted rotors, only to have them immediately rust!

I could be wrong, but I didn't think Brembo made rears that fit our cars, just the fronts.

They do. Both the 2.2/2.3 and the 3.0 use the same rear rotors. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2400331367

Is there a hierarchy as to what parts you should replace first to get better braking performance, if you can't afford the whole kit and kaboodle at once?

1. Brake pads - EBC green stuff
2. Rotors - drilled, slotted, vented, etc.
3. Break lines
4. Calipers?

they make rears and fronts for our cars...i had my uncle install them...he has a shop nearby...it took him about an hour to install, if i had all the tools i could have done them myself...the stopping ability u get with these rotors are great...throw them oems out!!! and if you;re short on money i say just get the rotors and get ceramic brake pads and call it a day...a friend of mine told me brake lines dont improve braking as well as rotors/brake pads do. all those big brakes kits etc. are all nice....but think of it this way... unless u have like a 13 second car, you wont need those

Yeah, I remember reading something in the Black Market a while ago. I thought they were for the 2nd Gen, only
