Replacing third brake lamp...

I am having trouble replacing my third brake lamp in my rear windshield. I got the 7440 bulb but can't remove the defective bulb. Anyone know how to take it out?

It might be easier if you unscrew the third brake light from inside the trunk. Then you'll be able to access the brakelight from inside the car to remove the bulb. Then later you can re-screw the third brake light back after.

Lay on your back and take the screws out, they are 10 mm bolts, I used a screw driver with extension and 10 mm socket attachment. It'll slide up and out, then you should be able to get in there and unscrew the bulb harness, it's kind of a pain in the ass

The manual says you get into the trunk and simply twist out the bulb socket. I tried twisting out the socket but it just wont budge. Oh well I'll just have to do it the hard way...

Or you can install an OEM spoiler to bypass the third brake light

I had a oem spoiler on my car that had the brake light on it, but my 3rd brake light still worked.

That shouldn't be, I have the oem wing from the factory and the dummy 3rd BL that has no wires run to it, there is only one, unless yours was installed at the dealer and they spliced it, there should have been either one or the other. The CL shares it's wiring harness for the wing and or 3rd BL

You are right...my third brake light has no wire running to it. It seems the spoiler used that wire to light up the leds on the spoiler. I mistaken this for a burnt out bulb...
