Remanufactured vs. Brand new bumper
Hi, all.
I had a question from a my friend about the remanufactured vs brand new bumper for his car, Honda Accord 2006.
His car was hit, not his fault. So her insurance company, progressive, is going to pay all the repairs.
After repairs, he found the bumper was not fit perfectly. In fact, I found it.
The manager at honda dealershop said that is not brand new bumper.
The progressive ordered him to use remanufactured bumper.
He was angry because nobody say that to him.
So, He called Progressive. The agent said,,, sorry ...blah..blah...redo it.
However, my friend called honda dealer again after 1 day. The dealer said that the agent said to use remanufactured again not with a brand new bumper.
Is there any difference between remanufactured bumper or brandnew one?
What do you think about this situation???????????

Insurance companies will almost always require a repair shop to use remanufactured or used parts whenever possible to keep their costs down. It sucks, but there's usually not much you can do aside from take the money, buy the parts you want, and do the work yourself.
Normally, there isn't a noticable difference between a new bumper and a remanufactured bumper once it's been prepped, painted. and installed, especially if it's a good shop that's working on your car. Like anything used though, there's always a chance that somebody messed up during the remanufacturing process, which could cause it to fit improperly. I would contact the shop and get them to fix it properly, as they shouldn't have let it leave with a noticeable imperfection.
