relocate battery to trunk

yes, I know this has probably been asked before, but my searches came up with nothing but people asking the question, but no answers.

I wanna relocate my battery to my trunk. I'm starting some research on a turbo install in my 3.0, and I couldn't care less whether you alll think it's going to happen or not, or what your oppinions on the effectiveness of this is.

so, how bad would it be to relocate the batter to the trunk? would I do the long wiring through the cabin under the carpet, or would I do it on the outiside of the car along the frame?

could I do this myself and just buy the proper cables, or would I be better off just taking it to a shop to do? if I do it myself what gauge wire shoud I use?

thanks in advance.

just go get a cheap power and ground wiring kit for subs and a battery holder that will bolt down to the floor in your trunk... bolt the battery in the trunk and wire the kit from the posts under the hood then youre done.. shouldnt be too hard and will take 30-60 minutes

i would reccommend using 0/1ga to ensure optimum power flow.

I'd go with a 1 gauge or 1/0 gauge wire for power... look here http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...ch.asp&x=0&y=0
type in battery cable
note for above statement. 0/1 gauge is not a step below 4 gauge. 4 gauge is thin, the lower the number the fatter the wire.

for battery boxes, this is what i use... http://www.eddiemarine.com/cart/cata...oxes%2FCharger

You have to use the 34m optima for these holders. their the tits imo.

good luck

thats what i meant. its a fucking fire-hose of a wire. its a step down in gauge number and a big step up in size. shoulda been more clear i guess.

damn, so it'll cost me $100 alone to relocate teh battery to the trunk? that seems kinda steep, but I can dig it.

I knew that the lower number gauge means a bigger wire, but I had never seen that syntax when refering to the gauge of a wire before.

Keep in mind that you'll have to move all of your battery wires back to the trunk too, like the alarm power wire, and the cluster of power and starter wires

thats the point of running the 0 gauge wire to the front. so the alternator, starter, and main fuse box all send and receive current from the battery.
