Recalls/ Techinal bulletins

Has any one ever heard of these recalls/ service bulletins about the CL's? There doesn't appear to be anything major, but if the dealer will fix/ change something for free I want to know before my warranty expires!

Yeah make sure you get that fixed. All the oil blew out of my engine on the highway because of this seal. I was two hours away from home when it lost its oil so I dropped the car off at a dealership and rented a car. It ended up costing just under $700 and then the rental on top of that. After the recall (we didnt get a notice we called them thanks to the info of this board) they refunded most of the money ($580)so make sure you get it fixed before it happens.

Whoa, so what should I do? My car is out of warranty. Can I call and read them this tech service bulletin? Will they do it for free?

What about all this other stuff?
I see a lot of paint code stuff. We know that the paint suck but does this mean it is documented that we can have repairs done for it?

What's up with Honda/ Acura trying to get the info banned for the consumer to see??
That's sort of shady...

If it's a Honda / Acura issued recall or technical bulletin, it shouldn't matter if your car is our of warranty, they'll fix it for free....

good post!!

when i took my cl in to get the tranny flushed, andthe engine light fixed, they installed a pcv reroute for free, but i never heard any info that it was a recall. they seem quiet about their recalls, which i dont like very much. anyway, it doesnt hurt to take your cl in and ask about the pcv routing.

What are the paint recall things or whatever and is there some place where all of these recalls are listed? Juniorbean is right, if it's a recall it doesnt matter if your car is still under warranty, they will fix it for free.

Do you think they'll fix the tiny dots of rust forming on my trunk lid?

I just called the Acura dealer here and he said that if there is not a problem with it, then they will not do work on it for free or under warranty. It is merely a service bulletin and not a recall. The bulletin's are just for their information, they don't have to do it if there is no problem.

So no luck for me to get any of these things done... Guess I'm screwed sideways if that seal breaks and my engine dies like 1stGenCL's did.

that's my input...

Sorry to bring this up to the top of this list again. I was wondering if anyone has signed up for the subscription for this? For $24 it's supposed to give the explanation to all of the bulletins on a specific car.....

No.
Unfortunatly a service bulletin does not make a dealer responsible to replace the part if not under warranty. If you still have the warranty then you can pretty much get whatever you want changed for free. You just have to say that you are having trouble with it.

Im almost postive the Balancer Shaft seal was a recall. Just bring it to your dealer and ask them about it. They just have to put a clip in or something. Im pretty sure they will put the cheap clip on for free instead of having to replace your engine if you dont realize that seal let go and you loose all your oil.

Thanks Nomad.

The main reason why I'm asking is since I've decided to keep my car, I wanted to know if these bulletins were common among us. Basically I wanted to know what types of problems people have had in the past with their cars that could have been fixed with the warranty, even if it was no longer within warranty. Other than my Alternator and a few minor electrical glitches, I haven't had any problems. However, I do know that Scott's (CLPower) transmission has been replaced, as well as a few people that have had problems with their power windows. Both the windows and the transmission are on the TSB list....

Ancient bump...

The guy that did my installs told me about the TSB for the balancer shaft seal and asked if I had it replaced when I had my timing belt done at the dealership. I looked at the invoice and didn't see anything about it which kind of pissed me off considering it's like a 3 dollar part apparently and takes <5 minutes to install (just a clip to hold the seal in).

Anyway just figured I would bump this for any members getting ready to do a timing belt make sure to get that part and have it installted or tell the dealer you want it installed. It might save you a huge headache down the road for basically zero investment.
