rear lip

How much do you have to modify a rear lip to make it fit the CL. Also what would be easiest lip to modify. Thanks for the help.

you basically have to cut a section out of the middle.

anyways figure $150-250 for the lip
$400 to mold it
$300 to paint it

figure $800 to $1000 when its all said and done

That looks very clean man give you mad props because you put a lot work into it and you can tell by the pictures, but I am looking for a lip that I can modify and just add it to the bumper. First reason is that the car can't roll around without bumpers and second it would probably cost more that the lip and the side skirts put together to do all that. But yours looks real clean man. What do you think is the best lip to use to do what i am going to do?

VX so it cost you 1000 to do the whole kit front and rear? Did you have to cut for the tag

OMFG!!! That look sawesome. Can some one PLEASE tell me what you mean by "molded" lips. I'm (semi) new to the whole CAr scene, I've been a computer nerd who's shunned car enthusiasts until about 6 months ago, so give me a break.

only thing that was cut was a section out fo the middle.

molded means making it all one piece. see how in my pic you cannot tell there is a lip on there. i had it molded to the bumper to make one nice clean piece.

I know what molded means I am getting mine done I was just confirming the price. So your saying it was 1000 to get it molded and painted or just to get it molded?

Could paint it yourself.. at least there's no masking involved.

I just repainted the OEM rear bumper myself to fix peeling clear.. the paint was $107 and the booth rental was $80. Body shop would have been $600 job. That's a pretty slick setup VXCL has and striking in black. My paint job had more orange peel than his though.. If it's custom paint than the formulation could be made blacker than OEM blacks.. and glossier. There's people who know how to mold stuff like this just as a hobby.. like the ex body shop guy who helped me at the paint booth.

So what rear lip can I buy that will require the least modification? Looking for something that looks clean and not very extreme.

Well the best way to do it structually, would be to mold it on. Basically, like the above a section out od the middle needs to be takin out, and the bumper pieced back together.

Molded means that the lip is well..molded into the bumper, so that Its one whole piece itself. As opposed to a lip that ist just attached on

So do they use mold a third piece into the shape of the bumper with the lip, or do they just use some material to put over the crack between teh two, then it get's hard and they paint over it?

So it seems like there is no rear lip out there that even comes close to fitting the CL with out major work being done to it. Isn't there someone that has a burgandy CL with a lip added to the rear with out molding it. Who is that and what kind of lip is it?

oh, yeah, well I meant the whole thing molded to the rear bumper, so it just looks like on big piece like VXCL's. Though I just noticed that hte corners don't line up very well with that rear lip, but it does let you ahve side skirts tht don't look too akward. I still need to find a stock spoiler for my car.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal, the paint for my rear bumper was $108 and I went through 75% of it in 40 minutes. If I got hit and was getting damage repaired I'd be making sure the body shop didn't use cheap paint, they aren't all created equal
