Rear end Rattle

Everytime I hit a slit bump in the road, my rear end rattles as if something in the truck is jumping around. Anybody know where that sound is coming from? It's actually more noticeable when I run over small bumps rather than larger potholes and such. Could it be my rear shocks? Cross Beam? Controller Arms?

Have you checked your spare tire or your jacks? Sometimes those could move....

rattle

Joe, I have the same problem. I've only noticed it when there are passengers in the backseat. Does yours have original springs/shocks? Mine's lowered 1.5" with Eibach springs. I haven't really tried to figure out what's going on.

99CL: I have check my spare and such, its fine. Thanks for the input.

AcuraCL22: It happens pretty much all the time. I've got the original springs and shocks, but I do have some weight in the trunk. I think its the shocks, I just haven't had time to check them out cause I wanted to know what to look for first and I can't tell if its just one side or both. When I find out exactly, I'll let you know.

Mine started that crap last week and It drives me nuts Im taking it in to the shop to check out the suspension or see if I did a shitty rear brake install since I really need to have control of my car because of Western NC's mountain roads.

Also I had a similar problem on my 87 Integra LS and if I recall correctly I somehow damaged the rack and pinion steering system (I was 16 and didnt have to pay to fix it so I cant really remember) and since the car was nine years old everything rattled really badly after that especially the rear end.

Yeah man... A while back, I actually had to put my lug wrench somewhere else cuz it was clanking on that 10inch rim that i have setting below the deck... Maybe coincidence, but the noise stopped...

Can you let me know what the shop says or if there is a way to check to see if the shocks are blown w/out taking them out? I don't think it would be the brakes, unless your rear ones aren't working.

Shock Test

In my auto shop class in high school they told us to stand at the corner of the car, start bouncing the car up and down, when you really get it going stand back and count the bounces. If it makes alot of noise or bounces more than once up then back down again, the shocks are shot. Not very scientific, but hasn't failed me in 15 years(oh shit, I'm getting old! )

Well, I decided to see what the hell was rattleing this weekend. I found out it was my rear passenger side strut. Just thought I'd let you all know. If you also here it, check your struts!!!
