Question about acceleration

alright so i was on the freeway (and there weren't many cars) and I’m doing about 70-75 and i noticed an Integra traveling pretty fast so i catch up and pass him up (doing around 85), and this goes on back and forth for a while, passing each other, and so he slowed down because he got behind some cars so i'm like "HA!" and i slowed down thinking it was over but i noticed he was catching up again and he was about 3-4 car lengths behind me and so i practically floored it and was doing around 115-120 and well he caught up to me! so in the long run i'm pretty sure he would of beat me.... i admit it though that integra didn't take no for an answer!! he had no problem catching up so i give the guy respect for that one....

so my question is DAYUUMM!! why is it that our acceleration is a little SLLOOW on the freeway, i mean i know that the CL does a good job at launching and drag racing against civics and other 4cyclinders and SOME 6cycl, but i noticed that on the freeway the acceleration is a little slooww once your already going 65-70 why is that?
my second question is I notice that if I’m doing 65 or 70 and I press on the gas that the RPM only jumps from 3rpm to 3 ½ RPM and other times it jumps to 4RPM making the acceleration faster

were you in d3 or d4? downshift to d3 until like 115-120 for better pickup.

your 3.0 right? if so
nope, it does put you at higher rpms so the tec can open up harder. d4 shifts you early so the pickup at around 90+ is not as strong.the manual says 113 i believe, is redline in d3 but i've taken it farther in the red past 113 racing to the point it didn't go no more and like nuetraled for a sec(not good).all the tricks to get power out the 3.0,like powerbraking, shifting, downshifting do a number on the tranny though.when i race i always manual shift.our trannys crap out when you drive like a grandma anyway,so i have fun with it .

btw:fyi the manual says it's ok to shift. but not the way i kill my baby.

i would still have thrown it in d3 for a second to see if i could gain some ground, but i'm also semi-retarted and my car is on a regular basis.
but as stated the teg is way lighter and might have a swap or be modded or might have been a gsr. if it was a gsr don't feel bad the same exact thing happened to me. in d3 at 90+ we were almost even until i had to shift to 4th he hawked and passed rather quickly...

Did you start this thread to give supraman an excuse to WHORE it up with his H22 > J30 posts! :theghey:

My 3.0 clowns at high speeds. Sounds like the integra caught up cuz you misjudged your acceleration.
