PS - dont buy kuhmo ecsta 711's

on my way up to the o-town meet this past weekend.

I ran over a metal wire type thing when I first got on to the highway and said to myself "fuck, Im gonna get a flat".

Well, I drove on for a little bit and didnt feel anything, so I figured everything was all good.

About 5 exits up, bam. This shit happens. Luckily I felt it soon enough before the entire thing ripped (i was doing around 80 at this point)

So, did i expect a bad flat was coming after I ran that shit over? Yes.

Did I expect the tread to stay intact but for the sidewall to rip like paper? Fuck no.

Anyone wanna shed some light on this?

holy fucking shit thats dangerous. I would be in a RAGE if that were me. The tire company would have to make me some special tires with my name on em for some shit like that with the amount you probably paid for the tires

given the benefit of the doubt that each exit is roughly a mile apart, you drove 5 miles after running over a metal wire, and clearly expected to get a flat... sorry but this sounds like your fault.

I have 3 different tires on my car!

Front two are Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's (not 711! :P)
And the right rear and left rear are something else that was there when I bought the car.

I thought the same, trust me. And like I said, I was expecting a BAD flat.

However, this ripped right at the sidewall. Look at the pic. Can running over something like that just straight rip the sidewall and skip the flat part?

and I have had flats before, So I know what it feels like. This was something different all together. Dunno..

You're assuming that your trannies can get you that high without breaking, and even that's already assuming too much.

i got the 711s on 2 of my stock 17s, that pic isn't making me very happy about that purchase. I'm still debating on putting my 17s back on for the winter or just leavin the 18s on it since i won't be driving it much in the winter

i've driven on tires going flat before, all kinds, and each and every time the inside of the tires were melted/shredded. if i had gone any longer it would have resulted in a picture like yours. when the tire is going flat an extreme amount of heat builds up and virtually melts the tire, it doesnt matter about the brand. not to mention you have no idea the initial damage caused by the thing you ran over. it may have gotten stuck and then littlerally ripped ur tire off after driving on it.

that tire looks pretty bald....is it?

I had 711's on my last rim package. The place I got them from couldn't tell me over the phone what Kumho they were mounting my rims on...only that they were Kumho's. I was expecting 712's and got 711's.....BIG difference!!

I got a good price on the package, but you get what you pay for with the 711's....they suck

Damn, good thing you pulled over before that tire came off completely. That fucking sucks.

My kumho 712's were ridiculous shit too, got air bubbles on the REAR tire after only like 3k miles. The front ones always tramlined whenever I went over any groove on the freeway.
Got some better tires now, thank god.

Tires werent as bald as they appear.. they still had some decent tread left.
