In Regards to Transmission Flushes

the garage that rebuilt my transmission said that getting transmissions flushed is the worse thing that you can do because the chemicals flush the "bad stuff" in your transmission pan right into the filters in the transmission. So...DO NOT GET THE TRANNY FLUSH AT JIFFY LUBE! i mean i love jiffy lube when time doesn't permit me to change it myself, but that flush was done on my car 9000 miles before it had to be rebuilt. the garage recommends getting your transmission oil CHANGED. that means they will drop the pan and clean the pan and drain the oil and replace the oil. by dropping the pan, they trouble shoot any problems that my arrise by looking at the pan itself. $79.99 for the oil change, plus a $15.00 filter. this price includes labor as well.

I think the Acura dealer flushed (not changed) mine too, about a month before it died. Bastards.

Tranmission Flushes

Actually for a transmission flush, a garage like Jiffy Lube never has to touch your transmission. all they have to do is pull the plug to drain, hook up the flush tube, replace the plug and fill with oil. That way Jiffy Lube COULD NOT be held responsible for severe damage to transmission, they never touch any components inside and you never know what may be wrong.

Im pretty sure that there is a non-removable filter in the tranny (or atleast I was told). So if you got charged $15 for a filter I would look into it.

I stand corrected

you are right about the filter on the tranny. There would not be an additionall charge for a filter on our CLs.

There's no filter. And I wouldn't take it to Jiffy Lube. I'd take it to a Honda specialist that will use Honda tranny fluid. A good shop will have a machine that flushes all the old fluid out till you see the new fluid coming through.

I just had my tranny fluid changed three times in a row by a honda tech. That was their recommendation of a safe flush.

That's how I do it. I run 25-50 miles between each change; changing the fluid 3 times within a single day.

It gets the majority of the old fluid out without stiring up all of those micro-metal particles.
