Despite rain, traffic, and police, I made it to the tuner. My downpipe is now connected to my exhaust. They found my idle air control valve is bad and there is also some sort of problem with my distributor. They said they are going to try and tune it to 5 psi today, half of what I was hoping. Once I get the other stuff taken care of, there's still hope for 10, but the other problems sounded expensive so I have to take care of them first. It took so long I dont have a ride back there tonight so I wont know what i put down at 5 psi until tomorrow. Im a little disappointed with 5 pounds and the other problems, we'll see what happens.

its much safer to run 5psi on a stock motor- rather than 8-10.

one thing you gotta remember when boosting is to not boost greedily.

Sorry to hear about your friends car, that would have killed me.

Stock whp is probably in the 130's, I doubt I'll break 200 on 5psi, especially since I told them to keep it on the safe side since its the only ride I have. I would guess 185 using the 10hp per pound of boost estimate, even though that doesnt take compression ratio into account.

damn you need more boost then It's just doean't seem like it's worth the money and risk factor for all that shit if you're only making that much power. Go for lke 10psi

I've seen f22's with headwork running 12psi daily. The f22 is a fast motor if done rite. IMO I would turbo and build the f22 before I swapped a h22. The cost is still less.

How's that clutch and flywheel working for you? I'm happy you installed them.

for the hodata, did you have to buy a new wiring harness? just a thought.

Great so far. It turns out my stock clutch was so bad, the clutch pedal got softer with the new setup. We'll see how it takes boost.

Yes, since the Hondata is based on an OBDI ECU I had to get a conversion harness.

With the standalone, you should be able to produce nice boost with your motor.

i saw it, just i was just agreeing with you that you need 10 psi
hopefully you'll get some decent numbers with that amount of boost.

Got it from a Hondata dealer for Hondata retail prices. $295 base S200, $200 boost option, might add launch or something later. The conversion harness was $135 and the ECU was $75, both of which I purchased online.

I hope so. The F23 isnt really a listed Hondata application but we're working on it.

Oh aite, Im hoping to move up to 10 after about a week, but just have to wait and see how it goes.

Blah. Had to pick it up to present it at school. This whole thing was my senior project. They couldnt adjust the timing because they said my distributor was not the one shown in the CL manual, and they also could not read the timing through my 11mm wires. So they did a very conservative tune, left the timing alone, and i made a whopping 160hp and 182lb/ft of torque on 5psi. Once we get the idle air control valve rewired for OBDI and they figure out my distributor, they'll adjust the timing and tune it for more boost.

wow. u will definitely net way more then that. b4 niedejb got his turbo he dynoed 147hp all motor on his f22. at 5 psi you should be putting down at least 180hp. i cant wait for you to get everythign running right. niedejb never took his turbo 2.2 to the track so im curious to see what would happen. good luck!

OMG can't wait to see what it'll put down once everything is right Damn it's a senior project...... Kids are probably all "thats a shitty turbo" just cause they don't know whats going on.

Does it at least feel a bit faster? The torque actually isn't too bad for 5 psi.

I discovered its actually only hitting 4psi watching the gauge, even though they said they tuned it for 5. The boost control knob was not turned enough to set the boost above the wastegate, so those numbers are from a 4.3 psi spring. Its faster, and it spools pretty low so the dump tube is open through over half the rpm band. There are some "hiccups" in the tune too in places unless I go WOT. Niedejb had a 2.2, so he could run more boost on his compression ratio, but I should at LEAST break 200hp. I might have to run it how it is for a while because I think that IACV is going to be at least 200 redone and they said it would need about another hour on the dyno.

Ok so I talked to the owner of the shop and now I understand whats going on. The distributor on the car is non-adjustable. They can work around this with the hondata setting static timing at idle. However, the idle air control valve needs to be replaced/rewired with an OBDI IACV to get the car to idle. I only need about another hour on the dyno once they redo the valve.
